Bigotry, racism, Hitler, Bob Jones, KKK, BJU… they all belong in the same boat. let them burn baby burn…

Teaching racial or religious hatred or bigotry has no place in this country or in this world.
That’s true. I also read in their website, in the job openings, that they do not discriminate against race, color, ethnic background, etc. Curiously though, I do not see it mention anything about religious affiliation. So technically they can discriminate against that…

And they do, as do many other religious schools.

BTW, they have a new president now.

I live near BJU, If you ever get to upstate South Carolina, do not fail to visit BJU’s stunning museum of sacred art. It is open daily in the afternoons and free on Sunday. They do ask you to wear appropriate dress, no shorts, tanks etc.

I have visited major art museums in big cities around the country and at many BIG Universities, but this one is so stunning…the beauty of the works is almost too much to take in in one day.

And for all their anti Catholic bigotry, the majority of the works are Catholic, there are saints, Mary etc. Just lovely. It seems almost a crime to have so many masterpieces gathered in one place. If some tragedy (fire, flood) took place there, the world would lose works of inestimable beauty and value.

It is just wonderful.

At least you guys don’t live 5 minutes from Bob Jones University like me. And yes once in sixth grade I punched a kid in the face for making fun of me for praying the Rosary. (He went to Bob Jones) (I went to Confession).

Normally, I would say, it is wrong to resort to violence.:tsktsk: But in this case, I would say, I wish I could have been there to see it. :clapping:

Many Fundamentalists have disapproved publicly of Paisley’s more inelegant vituperations, such as when he referred to the IRA as “murdering scum and papist rats.” But then, it’s hard to remain calm when your friends are being slaughtered week by week. 😦
If the IRA is representative of the Catholic faith (which Jack Chick also claims) then the UFF and UVF are representative of the protestant faith (and they’re killed more innocent civilians than the IRA has during the Troubles).

Nah, it was good for him. It let that kid enter into some redemptive suffering 😉

“Hi, I’m a Bob Jones graduate :whacky: … You are going to hell because you don’t agree with me… SO THERE!!!”

Peace

I went to evangelical Christian schools from kindergarten through the eighth grade. While most of the administrators and teachers held a pretty gracious view of Catholics (we might have even had some Catholic students, now that I think of it), some of our elementary school textbooks actually came from the Bob Jones Press. Fortunately, all I remember from those particular books was some rather shoddy science and biased history, no outright Catholic-bashing. And, as I recall, the school got rid of them eventually out of suspicion of anything that came from Bob Jones.

Little Mary:
He defended the article but still insisted he was not anti-Catholic. Just non-CAtholic.
Just because he goes to an anti-Catholic school doesn’t mean that he himself is anti-Catholic. Of course, if he continues to claim that the school isn’t anti-Catholic after knowing its relationship with such a Catholic-hater as Paisley, then he’s just not seeing reason. Also, don’t expect his lack of anti-Catholic-ism to be any different from my lack of anti-Muslim-ism. I don’t hate Muslims, but I certainly don’t think they’re right, either.

Katholikos:
Dwight Longenecker’s Interesting conversion story: from Bob Jones University to England and the Anglican priesthood and finally to the Catholic Church.
That’s a great conversion story and shows a man of great love and faith.

I wonder how many other Protestants could be brought to realise that in joining the Catholic Church they will not be denying or giving up what was true, and of God, in their old churches. Instead they will be accepting, no longer denying, the many other truths that form the beautiful reality of our relationship with God, a reality only found in its completeness in the Catholic Church.
