Is the song good to listen to? The lyrics at strange? Am I fine as long as I don’t take them to heart or something? I don’t think they’ve harmed me spiritually whatsoever, and if I’ve been spiritually harmed, it is not by the song or by music I’m general. So, is it cool to listen to the song?

That is a very specific question!

You could probably ask that about any song/poem.

Bohemian Rhapsody was brilliant. My kids damce to it all the time 😊

I should say what could be implied by them or how one may interpret the lyrics, rather.

I don’t care for the song and the lyrics refer to the fact that Beelzebub aka Satan has possession of their immortal souls.

On a pure musical level it’s just really shallow. I like Radiohead, Pavement etc and some of their songs I just have to skip due to lyrics

I took that part of the song as the narrator’s personal experience (don’t know what that is, though!) being painful, and him expressing it with that line. I don’t think the song has much literal meaning, though and is up to interpretation in many areas.

On the note of interpreting song lyrics, do you think a personal interpretation by someone of BoRhap’s lyrics have significance in whether they should listen?

Definitely on the the overrated songs by Queen. I find the lyrics rather absurd. Tries to tell a dramatic story, overkill on lyrics and music. Gimmicky

@ewohdrol So, is it fine to listen morally if you aren’t taking (for lack of better words) ‘sketchier’ parts to heart, or don’t interpret hem as ‘sketchy’.

Thanks!

Um, that’s a bold claim to make. How are you sure?

It didn’t really say anything about possession, or much to imply it, so I didn’t take it that way.

Between this and your other thread, I wonder if you are scrupulous. At the very least, you are vastly overthinking this.

Wayne’s World made it fun, but I don’t consider it to be in the “fun” category. Bicycle, Fat Bottomed Girls, Somebody to Love : those are fun.

It’s about a condemned man fearing hell while he awaits execution. It has nothing to so with possession or demonic activity.

“The Prophet Song” by Queen imo is much better than Boho Rhap.

😊

Personally, I don’t let music lyrics bug me as much. Does that mean I always support the? No. If you don;t think you’ve been harmed, have no fear.

That guy is not only a scientist; he has an amazing voice and musical sense. He has other cover videos; to me the most amazing one was “Entropic Time”. He had to sing all the vocal parts backwards.

Back on topic – “Bohemian Rhapsody” didn’t really impress me that much, but I don’t see anything wrong in listening to it. I’ve played it in arrangements for brass band and tube-euphonium mass ensemble.
