Born in Nazareth?

I’m not sure there’s any evidence that he was born in Nazareth. They start with a secular assumption about the story that it is false, then sit back in their arm chairs and talk about what must *really *have happened with this rabbi.
Exactly!

Faith 1960, if they were lepers and Jesus healed them they would likely still not believe. Think of the Pharisees who saw Jesus, saw the miracles happen, and STILL did not believe. If people DON’T WANT to believe, they won’t. These are not worth your time. These are the types that think any thought in their heads is superior to any of the thoughts in yours…

As to your last post here, if you want to go down that rabbit hole, perhaps someone here will find you a source. However, realize that people like this do just what Wesrock said here. Speaking with a self-important “voice of authority” when they are NOT, they makes ASSUMPTIONS which sound plausible to their subjective minds - and their bent is pure atheistic scepticism - and then goad others to disprove their BASELESS thoughts. If you want to be reigned in by that, you will find with such as these that even when your prove it beyond reasonable doubt,* they* still won’t believe, and they will never acknowledge the truth when it stares them in the face. Instead, they will change the subject and offer you another completely unsubstantiated argument for you to run after.

If you want to do that, then, fine. 🤷 Instead, I would like to think on things that are true and right and beautiful.

Here is someone who debunked it for you. You have to follow links. christiancadre.blogspot.com/2012/12/whither-born-jesus-is-aviram-oshri-right.html

(Consider the man has a bias. Consider that his peers and community will applaud to say that Jesus was not born in Bethlehem like the prophets said. He’ll get fame! hard to get for a plain old archaeologist. Look, he is in the papers already. Make an outrageous, unsupported claim and you WILL make the papers! Especially if it pleases religious skeptics, who are legion. However, if this “expert!”'s claims were true, don’t you think the Pharisees woudl have use that 2000 years ago, in in the centuries following?? Its a pretty recent “development”.)

Its just common sense, Faith. I think that is why people are not interested in spending time with it. Hope the above article, when you get to the original one, helps.

That article is talking about Bethlehem of Judea vs Bethlehem of Galilee. I want to learn something about his supposed birthplace of Nazareth.

I see, well this Avirim guy is beginning his own controversy, and not enough people are finding it plausible to write about yet.

Maybe read some of the reputable mystics who wrote in more detail about Jesus and his life on earth. That is a LOT more interesting and edifying than these attention seekers.

Can you give me some names of reputable mystics?

Yes Jesus was Born in Bethlehem …and lived in Nazareth…

Such are the historical factum.

Tis not an open question.

I asked a scholar/ archeologist who said it depends on who you ask but she believes Jesus was born in Nazareth.

Let’s suppose He WAS Born in Nazareth. What does that say about our Bible and our faith?

Some say there are discrepancies in the Bible and that’s ok. Is it ok if He was actually born in Nazareth?

Based on which scholars?
Historical and Inspired (by the Holy Spirit) documents from Matthew and Luke…and the constant Tradition of the Church that Jesus founded…

Truth here is concerning Revelation …from God who can neither deceive or be deceived…

…though I am sure there are plenty of Scholars who agree with such.

One can simply turn to good Commentaries.

Do not let this writer or that writer make this into an actual question…

It is not an open question.

Truth per se is not determined by what this Scholar or that Scholar says…Jesus did not leave “Scholars” in charge…though some at times are given that role (such as Pope Benedict XVI etc)

If articles were written that we did not really exist…I would ignore them too…
Am I missing something or do scholars have some other reason for believing Jesus was born in Nazareth other than He was called A Nazarine? Because I take that to mean that’s just where He grew up.

Like asking suppose I really am a guy named henry who lives on Mars…not me…living where I am…

What if’s about such is simply not something to concern oneself with. For they are not about reality.

Or asking suppose I really am a peanut in a factory having a bad dream…

Such are to be “dismissed” not argued with or about…

Absolutely! It doesn’t change a single thing concerning our faith as expressed entirely in the Creed. You continue to find fault with the accuracy of the Bible, yet not in four threads have you ever accepted what others shared in order to help your unbelief. And here you are again, in yet another thread arguing about the same thing, almost as if you want everyone to believe that the bible is not trustworthy.

Going back to St. Luke who wrote the third gospel, it seems very clear that he obtained his information straight from Mary, Jesus’ mother, giving details found in no other gospel. Are you now trying to imply that maybe Mary isn’t being truthful about the census, her and Joseph’s journey to Bethlehem, and all the other facts surrounding His birth, the lack of room at the inn, the shepherds’ visitation, the heavenly chorus of angels? Or did St. Luke write fairy stories? All fiction? I am really disappointed in your lack of trust and faith.

As Jesus once remarked, Mark 10:15
“Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Your obsessive curiosity will be the death of your faith.

I’m sorry in your disappointment in me. I have OCD and obsess about religion. 🤷

And I would say …talk with your Priest and those who provide medical care…

Such is rather to be “dismissed” and “not argued with”. For you will just go round and round…due to such.

Pope Benedict XVI noted simply -from the scholarly perspective - that he does not see how a basis for that theory can come from the actual sources.

The only remedy is to enter the kingdom with the simplicity of a child, telling Jesus that you love and trust him and you will be faithful. You might consider these two prayers to add to your daily regime, along with the Nicene Creed.

PSALM 131
O LORD, my heart is not proud;
nor are my eyes haughty.
I do not busy myself with great matters,
with things too sublime for me.
Rather, I have stilled and quieted my soul, like a weaned child.
Like a weaned child on its mother’s lap,
so is my soul within me…
Israel, hope in the LORD,
now and forever.

ACT OF FAITH
O my God, I firmly believe that you are one God in three divine persons, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. I believe that your divine Son became man and died for our sins, and that he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe these and all the truths which the holy Catholic Church teaches, because in revealing them you can neither deceive nor be deceived.

But if He was born in Nazareth or Betlehem of Galilee instead of Bethlehem of Judea that would be ok?
It doesn’t matter WHERE He was born, but that He was INCARNATE of the Virgin Mary. (That’s another snafu that pseudo apologists argue tooth and nail, that Mary sinned and had other children) You can go nuts listening to those outside our faith who delight in taunting us with insidious challenges that serve no valid purpose except to decrease our beautiful simple faith.

God bless!
