Boston College threatens action in condom giveaway

It is simple: if you think that free condoms are a right, then do not go to a school that is morally opposed to free contraception. End of story.

How dare you be rational, this is not a rational discussion. No no no, you must bend to my will and do things how I want, that’s the only way to be fair and unbiased. Only when the dissenting opinion is fulfilled is the world righteous, so long as it’s my dissenting opinion and not yours. You must make accommodations for my perversion, your faith and ideals be damned, they are not mine, so they are unimportant. You must provide me with whatever I want to live my life however I want it, otherwise you’re a bigot. I have no time for objective Truths that aren’t mine, the world is relative, didn’t anyone tell you that? Get with the times you ancient pile of antiquate nonsense, your morality doesn’t serve my agenda, and it objects to my lifestyle, so obviously it must be done away with, that is the only way for everyone to be happy.

… I really wish this was farther away from reality than it is, I really do…

Boston College is a Jesuit University and I would like to think that with a Jesuit Pope perhaps there is hope for the Jesuit Universities!

I wonder if there is perhaps another student group handing out guns in the name of student safety.
 
Well as a BC alum I can say there is a bit of hypocrisy here. First people have sex on the BC campus lets be real here. Second, if anyone has ever walked through the area where the dorm buildings are at night or on a weekend night, there are lots of students that are just completely wasted. Sometimes I had to be careful not to walk to close to the buildings cuz some students throw beer bottles out of the windows.

So if we’re gonna get all in a tizzy over a couple of students handing out condoms, which all friends in BC do anyway, then lets crack down on the rampant drinking first.

I don’t understand your comparison. Are you trying to say that these things were brought to the attention of BC and they said they don’t care if these things go on? If so, I would like you to provide the statement by BC saying they don’t care if these kinds of things go on on their campus.

Brought a statement? All you had to do was walk through the campus at certain hours. It was pretty well known. BTW I loved my time at BC. I’m just pointing out a slight hypocrisy here and for all I know they have cleaned up the excessive drinking. I haven’t been there in a few years.

Earlier this week, the BC administration threatened disciplinary action against the students for handing out the condoms,** saying that the Jesuit, Catholic university has a policy against the distribution of contraceptives on school grounds**.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has also stepped up to stand behind the students, saying that it may take legal action against BC if it follows through with discipline, WBZ reported this week.

The Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts (PPLM) has put its support behind a group of Boston College students who were threatened with disciplinary action after they handed out condoms on campus.

The issue is - does this Catholic College have the right to act?
 
If their parents can afford to send them to BC, can’t they afford to keep them supplied with condoms?

If there is a problem, maybe the students should just text mom or dad: “Pls send comdoms! Thx!”
