Boston: more pretend “ordinations” - sad business [Fr. Z]

Truly sad, what’s even worse is they actually believe they are ordained and received the Sacrament of Holy Orders and their followers, truly sad.

They make a mockery out of the Catholic Priesthood…

Why can’t these feminists just learn to accept that God has made Man and Woman, each seperate yet equal in dignity. We all have our own roles, just like only woman can bear children, only men can be priests.

I have no problem with women lecturers or cantors, but the sacristan, altar boys, extra-ordinary ministers (which there shouldn’t be any in the first place), and homilists (which should be only deacons or priests) should be men.

If this were 400 years ago, the Congregation of Christian Doctrine (aka Inquisition) surly would’ve stamped out this heresy.
 
On a happy note, just this morning at my parish I was privileged to witness a former Episcopal “priestess” enter into full communion with the Church; she stated her faith by reciting the Creed and also by - what I assume is part of the ritual in such a case - asserting her allegiance to the Holy See and Magisterium. She was confirmed and made her First Holy Communion. Earlier in the week she renounced her allegiance to the Episcopal communion and her role as a “priest”; her road to conversion began last year with the Divine Mercy devotion and St. Faustina, whose name she took as her Confirmation name. So, the Lord continues the sorting - may we all be found among the faithful. 🙂

Let us rejoice and praise Our Lord!!

just the word “priestess” sounds so…pagan, i don’t know…it sounds weird to me

All the more reason to use the word “priestess”. After all, that is what they are trying to be.
 
I thank Catholic.com for this forum where people can discuss this. We aren’t sitting home reading the news by ourselves wondering if those women are the crazy ones or maybe we are. (We are not!)

I am a female and I do not want to see women priests, even fake ones!

Actually, if we had only women priests, that business about “Call no man ‘Father’” would be one less thing we’d have to defend to the Protestants. 😃
 
curious as to why one is just a Deacon, seemed so odd since they are professing themselves to be Priests. Why just aspire to the lower rank of Deacon why not just go the whole way?, they are making up their own rules anyway!

There is something absurdly humorous about the whole thing, they sound like little kids playing house. Lets all get ordained as women Priests, because Jesus just forgot to mention, that in the future when woman hold more important position they can be Priests.
Th every sad part is they are putting their souls in danger, they need many many prayers.

Why do you suggest these women are “aspiring” to something?
Have you ever considered that these women truly believe God is ***calling ***them to be a Priest or a Deacon?

From that point of view, these women are not “aspiring” to anything - they are doing what God is calling them to do. And they are doing it despite great odds.

They do not deserve to be belittled.
They do deserve our prayers.

Go with Love, Go with God

I’m not suggesting they are aspiring to anything.

Nope never considered they believe God is calling them to be a Priest or Deacon.

God is not calling any woman to be a Catholic Priest or Deacon.
What great odds would those be?

No one is belittling them, they are doing that quite nicely by themselves by making a mockery of The Catholic Church.

I do not believe these women feel they have a calling - they are attempting to make a political statement. If people do not want to feel “belittled” - then they shouldn’t do stupid thing’s.

Both men and women are called to be “priests”, but only a select few MEN are elected and called by God to the sacramental Priesthood.

Why don’t these women just become episcopalian? If they reject the teachings of the Church, then why even be Roman Catholic?

I’m just happy she never became a nun, who knows what kind of damage these women could’ve caused teaching heresy to children and catechumens…as if we don’t have enough problems already in proper catechism of Catholic doctrine…
 
This is so upsetting. If those churches that held these ceremonies burned down I wouldn’t even be upset about it.

Umm… I do not think that is an appropriate sentiment to state, or even think. It is certainly most uncharitable.
