His history also gets lost.

Who is the black man Archer Alexander in the Lincoln Emancipation Memorial on Boston Common.

Arther Alexander was a slave ,who helped in the Union army.
Archer Alexander was a former slave who served as the model for the emancipated slave in the Emancipation Memorial located in Lincoln Park in Washington, D.C. He was the subject of an 1885 biography, The Story of Archer Alexander, written by William Greenleaf Eliot. [Wikipedi

That statue is getting replaced with one that’s less irksome. It’s not Lincoln but that particular depiction that’s problematic. They can depict the same ex-slave in a less dehumanized manner too. Just like the Teddy Roosevelt statue in New York removed by the museum is likely going to be replaced by a better depiction of the same president.

I agree with the criticisms about some removals, like the Grant person who owned a slave but released him and also spent his political life fighting slavery and the KKK. I also do not agree with the removals of presidents in general, though that Woodrow guy, I won’t whine over. But there are complaints here that are getting hyped too, by the conservatives who think they’re about to be invaded by the Red army thanks to pundits like Tucker Carlson, no more honorable than the Rachel Maddows they criticized for the same nonsense on the left till just a few months ago.

Boston walk

“That man is not kneeling on two knees with his head bowed. He is in the act of getting up. And his head is up, not bowed, because he’s looking forward to a future of freedom.” Also if you look you will see a broken shackle that represents his freedom

Do they ever take a walking tour and listen?
