I know I’m supposed to do a “profound bow” before receiving the Body, but what about the Blood?

Also, what exactly is a profound bow?

A profound bow is a bow from the waist as opposed to a nod of the head.

But I did’t think a profound bow was called for before receiving. I thought a nod was considered proper. I believe it is the same for receiving both the Body and the Precious Blood.

A profound bow is not required before receiving the Eucharist. A bow of the head is all that is necessary. I would guess that one should bow before receiving either.

I was just having a similar conversation on another thread about bowing during the Creed. The question I was addressing there was the fact that in the Creed the profound bow is required; but not at the receiving of the Eucharist…
I bow my head before receiving the Precious Blood as well as the Eucharist because there is no difference…They’re both the Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Christ.🙂

Thanks for your answers, I guess I was wrong. I was able to find the reference for bowing…GIRM #160 (emphasis added):

"When receiving Holy Communion, the communicant bows his or her head before the Sacrament as a gesture of reverence and receives the Body of the Lord from the minister. The consecrated host may be received either on the tongue or in the hand, at the discretion of each communicant.

When Holy Communion is received under both kinds, the sign of reverence is also made before receiving the Precious Blood."
