It has come to my attension, that Senomyx (a research partner company) of PepsiCo are using aborted infants as part of their testing process to determine the safety of artificial flavours for human consumptio!!! I am outraged! Please goggle and find out for yourselves and them join in the boycott. I am not usually political, but this demands action! Let our voices ring out in the wilderness!

I’m going to drink a Mountian Dew while reading Harry Potter and wearing shorts and a t-shirt to church.

Funniest post I have read today! 😃

I will join you, except I am wearing a tank top, shorts, reading HP and drinking the Diet version. 👍

Cheers!

I’m with you. 👍

The abuse of life is horrific and the greed is shameful. I wish they would just test the flavours the old fashioned way…I’m sure they would have no shortage of volunteers.

Boycotts rarely acomplish anything. I don’t drink Pepsi anyway. Here in Atlanta you can get shot for drinking Pepsi.

The Pepsi generation is aborting and contracepting itself to death anyway. I don’t fear God’s wrath as much as I do the prospect of him letting us continue until we just collapse of our own lust, greed and self -love.

I learned about this in May, 2011, so I emailed Pepsi Co’s consumer relations department and asked for a “yes” or “no” answer to this claim. I received this NON-answer. Since then, I’ve switched soft drink brands but wonder just how long until we hear that most soft drink companies use this sort of “research.”

Dear Virginia,

Thank you for contacting us to share your sincere concerns.

Please be assured that PepsiCo is committed to using only the highest ethical methods in all aspects of our research. This is something we take very seriously, and we hold ourselves and all of our research partners to the same high standards as the world’s leading research centers.

With respect to the flavor discovery research with Senomyx, we utilize techniques that have been the gold standard for several decades by top universities, hospitals, U.S. government agencies, food and beverage companies, and essentially every pharmaceutical and biotech company in the world. Yet, there is some misinformation being circulated meant to distort what we’re doing and question our motives and those of other companies. This is unfortunate, and it is certainly not reflective of the work we are doing.

We hope this information is helpful and reassuring. Thank you again for reaching out to us and allowing us to clarify the situation.

Thanks for sharing the letter, lagin. It was commendable for you to pursue them on the issue. :clapping:

I find their response chilling. They most certainly don’t deny using aborted fetuses in research and all the while, they proudly defend their methods and standards.

Verbal gymnastics should be an Olympic sport, we’ve got a gold medal winner right here 👍

More accurately, Senomyx tests some of the flavors it develops by using a cell line which decades ago was started by using kidney cells of a human fetus. PepsiCo buys some of its flavors from Senomyx, but in which products those flavors are used, I am not sure. PepsiCo, of course, sells a wide variety of products unrelated to Pepsi such as Gatorade, Tropicana, Quaker, and Frito Lay. And, of course, Lipton, Sobe, Mountain Dew, AMP, Propel etc

This is a topic which has come up multiple times for discussion here at CAF. I agree that the topic is distasteful and alarming, but accuracy is important if we want to protest.
