Boycott Telus: Catholic archbishop
**Flock warned of porn service on cellphones
**VANCOUVER — The Roman Catholic archbishop of Vancouver has asked Catholic schools and churches not to renew their mobile phone contracts with Telus after receiving complaints that the company is making pornography available through its cellphones.
Archbishop Raymond Roussin said the situation is one of “grave concern” to him.
Canada’s second largest phone company now offers pornographic photos and videos to its customers and confirmed last week it has been receiving complaints from customers.
Telus introduced the service in January, becoming the first wireless provider in the country to offer pornographic photos and videos at $3-4 each.
All other objections aside, how does Telus propose to keep its “adults only” section restricted to adults? Oh, that’s right, they don’t care.

Thanks for the heads-up! That’s my archbishop, and I hadn’t heard about this until now. Glad I’m with Rogers and not Telus…heck, even my landline isn’t Telus (which is very, very rare here in BC), as I’m using a digital Vonage line.

I’m really not trying to be flip here…

But given the size of a cell phone screen…how desperate are some people for pornography?

Now this is a Bishop - this is a successor to the Apostles.

I bet he has faced persecution due to Canadian laws.

God protect this man and use him. May all the priests in his arch diocese fear God’s judgement if they fail to teach fidelity
to the Church’s teachings.

May God work through him.

May God bless him, may all those in Canada honor this servant of God.

Regards

Well, a couple months ago, right before Christmas, I saw some 13-14 year-old boys on the bus passing around a cell phone with porn on it. I assume someone messaged or e-mailed it to them – I don’t know of any US company that you can d/l porn from. But they were obviously quite titillated by it, small screen or no.

Like all the others with age restrictions. They will put a notice in fine print under the image saying that you are forbidden to view this if you are under 18.

I love my bishop! Our priest was very supportive as well, telling us what Roussin was doing and how ridiculous it is what Telus is doing, all for a couple bucks.
