That I agree. But I don’t agree that it’s the soul which makes us conscious. Meaning not passed out. That’s just ridiculous.

O. O

Why?

Don’t the souls of dead people go to the respective place?

I don’t remember learning that souls occupy particular places.

Explain your reasoning. Some people have had near death experiences on the operating room table and remembered details. Their brain could not record anything as it’s senses were literally suspended. Saints who’ve conversed with those in Heaven note their personalities are similar to their earthly one. Don Bosco comes to mind here…

Never mind. You don’t seem to understand me. What I’m trying to say is, being awake, that is being conscious, is entirely biological.

Who we are arises from our immortal soul and carries our memories into the next life.
This is questionable for how can we be at peace in Heaven with all our earthly memories and thinking of loved ones burning in hell?

The soul doesn’t reside within the head or the heart. But rather we’re fused together to form a body. Otherwise, we’d be corpse and ghost. I contend that the brain is the final switch that holds the system together. The critical link!

I just assumed that the soul would be close to wherever this person went. I’m not saying it’s in the head.

Perhaps the OP refers to if the soul would leave the body during a brain transplant or it will be still with the brain. I would think yes the person with the brain who is dead would have his soul departing, 2 sould can’t live in a single body

To take away our memories would infringe on our free will. Memory washing would be most egregious. The Rich Man and Lazerus certainly remembered what had transpired! We’ll have to take consolation in God’s Justice and our fellow humans free will.

Interesting observation! This must be why diabolical possession causes so much trauma… 🤔

😮 please elaborate why you think that makes possession traumatic. I really wanna know! Also I’ve read somewhere that the démon can possess only the body and never the soul.

That is incorrect. Does a person suffering from amnesia lose their free will?

Your soul is locked. Impermeable to the Devil tampering with it directly. He requires our cooperation to lead us into perdition. However, having a fallen angel try to hijack your neural interface causes many problems. That’s why possession is considered a physical affliction caused by spiritual forces. Also, that’s why psychologists are always consulted first. As it could merely be mental illness and not demonic.

They still retain those memories. Some return if the neural connections regenerate; however, you’ll remember everything on the Last Day! Amnesia is a temporary impairment. God said he’d wipe away our tears not our memories.

Revelation 21:4

He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

Revelation 21:1

Then I saw “a new heaven and a new earth,” for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.

There’s a lot of recollecting going on here. There’s the Old Order and a New Heaven and Earth.

Where does it say that all knowledge is contained in Scripture?
All truth is there, but it certainly doesn’t 'cover everything we believe.
