With all due respect, I believe the Church is guided by the Holy Spirit which is why I find the statement that the Catholic Church is no longer a force for good in Brazil, or anywhere else for that matter, somewhat over the top and seems to reflect an ideological position rather than bare fact. Living in Japan, I know several families from Brazil who now live and work here. They would never agree with your exagerated statement. I have also known several Brazilian priests and foreign missionaries who are stationed in Brazil. They are good people, doing the Lord’s work in often difficult situations. To say that they are not a force for good is simply ludricous, and then to continue and insinuate that the Church is somehow communist, well, as I said before, this is simply a reflection of your own ideological fears and does not approach reality. The election you describe is a national election and, even if the leading candidate is a woman who seeks to legalize many liberal issues, you should also note that the Church is primarily opposed to many of them. What does this candidate’s position on the issues have to do with the Church and whether it is a force for good in Brazil?
