Breaking Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus.

The prime minster tweeted: "Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.

"I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus.

“Together we will beat this. #StayHomeSaveLives.”

Some who get ill, though, they recover, speak of terrible pain. Now, he says he has only mild symptoms. I hope and pray for his speedy recovery.

I hope he recovers soon, and that everyone he has been in contact with remains healthy, especially his pregnant fiancee Carrie.

News has just come out that Johnson is in hospital. I hope he recovers well, and soon.

And from the BBC live page:
A Downing Street spokesperson says: "On the advice of his doctor, the prime minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests.

“This is a precautionary step, as the prime minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus ten days after testing positive for the virus.”

The Downing Street spokesperson goes on to say: “[Mr Johnson] thanks NHS staff for all of their incredible hard work and urges the public to continue to follow the Government’s advice to stay at home, protect the NHS and save lives. The prime minister has had coronavirus for 10 days and continues to have persistent symptoms, including a high temperature. For purely precautionary reasons, he has gone to hospital for tests. It was considered sensible for doctors to see Mr Johnson in person given he has ongoing symptoms. He remains in charge of the UK government, and is in contact with ministerial colleagues and officials.”

While I wouldn’t wish him any ill, one might hope that he learns the lesson that even Masters of the Universe can be laid low.

I say this in the light of his ‘joke’ to manufacturers last month that their efforts to build more ventilators could be described as “Operation Last Gasp.”

So, get well soon, Prime Minister, but an introduction to the concept of humility might be an opportunity not to be missed.

Good article in The Guardian explaining why he may have been admitted to hospital and why it may be serious. He has been looking pretty unwell in recent appearances. I certainly hope he makes a swift and full recovery.
Correct, it may be more serious than we’ve been told but I’d like to think I am sure he will recover.

Sad news, the Prime Minister is now in ICU (intensive care unit).

His condition has seriously deteriorated.

Covid-19/Sars-cov-2 does not discriminate - everyone, from highest to lowest, is at risk - and this tragic turn of circumstances is demonstrating it.

Oh no! ☹️ ☹️

This is truly awful for him, and his family. I hope he gets better soon!

Shocking. It’s been announced that Dominic Raab is to deputize for the prime minister in his capacity as first secretary of state. I cannot imagine how worrying this must be for Carrie Symonds.

It must be unimaginably worrying for Carrie Symonds, his young pregnant partner.
