“Since his first day in office, President Trump has remained steadfast on his campaign promises to the pro-life cause and has actively worked to protect the unborn,” said Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life. “Over the past year, the Trump administration has significantly advanced pro-life policy, and it is with great confidence that, under his leadership, we expect to see other pro-life achievements in the years to come. We welcome our 45th President, Donald Trump, to the 45th annual March for Life.”

Wow. I don’t know if it is a good idea to have someone who supposedly had unprotected sex with a porn star as his wife was pregnant with his son to speak at the March of Life. Talk about giving the enemies of the movement ammo.

One of the reasons I don’t attend the March. I don’t want or need to hear from right wing politicians.

Personal issues aside, he is the President. It’s more the office than the man in the office. As much as I wish he did not have those personal issues, that doesn’t mean he can shirk off responsibilities just because how he has lived his personal life makes him look like a hypocrite. I’d rather him speak out than just be silent.

It is sort of odd. Trump definitely does some unexpected things. Of all the presidents we have had over the past 45 years, I wouldn’t have picked him as the sole one to actually address the crowd this way. Although, if I recall correctly, W. Bush addressed the March participants via a statement that was read on his behalf.

Really? I’m not surprised. The right wing media loves him and he loves the adulation. It makes total sense to me that he will bask in it.

i agree. he loves the spotlight. he really needs our prayers

God can use anyone to get his message across

Perhaps. The March for Life doesn’t generally draw a lot of media attention, though. It may be a good opportunity for him to score points with his supporters (and potential supporters). But it also has the potential to draw more media attention to an event that generally gets glossed over in the press (since the media follows Trump where e’er he goes). That could be a good thing. I guess we’ll have to wait and see how it plays out.

Good for President Trump for speaking at the pro life rally.

John

It is not surprising Trump is the first president to speak at this event. Several past presidents supported abortion. Several didn’t. Trump for all his many faults is more of a populist.
