Grace,
If he were in the process of being impeached and every single Republican Senator was in favor of impeachment, I still would not want to hear from an ex-President.

An ex-President should NEVER publicly say a single negative thing about a current President.

This is not a political position. I voted for Obama, twice to my own dismay. But it’s not about politics. It’s simple. No ex-President should ever speak about a current President.

When Trump is out of office, if he speaks out about the next President (Republican or Democrat) I will be furious.

I also believe that current & former Presidents not seeking reelection, should never campaign against another. I’m fine if they speak in favor of someone, but not against another.

God Bless
In any other time, I would overwhelmingly agree. It seems, though, that we’re somehow through the looking glass here. All the rules of decorum were thrown out before the election was over and for many, it seems that all the grown-ups have left the room. For these folks, I think hearing from Obama is reassuring. I understand it breaks with protocol and normally isn’t desired. I just think what we’ve entered bizarro world here in general.

Obama is hardly a grownup.Oh I know he liked to pontificate via the Teleprompter.Yet ,he also enjoyed goading, chiding and basically calling out the Republicans every chance he got,He was a very petty and devisive POTUS.Not to mention his never ending apology tour, going around the world chastising the many failings ofvAmericia.
How refreshing and comforting it is to have a POTUS who actually likes and is proud of America!🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

👍 and I never viewed him as a father figure!

Breaking silence? How is this breaking silence? They have only been gone a few days. They haven’t even had time to unpack and suddenly he is breaking silence?

He is a self important attention monger. He can’t help himself!😛

Regarding Reagan, remember the George H W Bush followed him, and he was Reagan’s VP, so I doubt he’d be very critical. By the time Clinton became president, Reagan was already suffering from dementia, and became more private due to the illness.
You forget that GHW Bush tried to undo much of what Reagan did.

Are we really going to stick with this in a world where Trump is president?
Trump is a results oriented individual. He like to get things done.If he comes off as self important at least he has some reason to feel that way.
What the heck has Obama ever accomplished?Crickets…

It doesn’t seem to matter that traditionally, “ex” presidents used to keep their mouths closed.
Well there’s nothing traditional about radical activists.

“Lest we forget at least an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical: from all our legends, mythology, and history (and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins — or which is which), the first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer.
—SAUL ALINSKY”

Combine Alinsky’s influence on Obama with the influence Farrakhan had on him, it’s no wonder.

But then, Trump is rebelling against the establishment. And he’s influenced by Steve Bannon, who said…

“darkness is good.”
"Dick Cheney. Darth Vader. Satan. That’s power. "

Trump won’t last 6 months with this man in his midst.

We need a Statesman as president, not another radical. The republicans in Congress are going to get crushed in 2018 if they don’t see this.

And nothing says “results” like ignoring the country whose nationals brought terrorism to San Bernardino and Orlando.

Doesn’t matter. The Democrats have plenty of others who can speak out. Besides, Obama speaking out is not only bad the country, it also hurts the Democrats because

(1) it steals the spotlight away from potential 2020 Presidential candidates. Obama can’t be the leader of the Democratic Party. And Hillary can’t be either, unless she plans to run again in 2020.

(2) Addtionally, Obama speaking out gives Trump a “free pass” to speak out in the future.

Obama speaking out will only have long term negative effects on the country, regardless of party.

If he has things he really wants to communicate, he should counsel, in private, the Democratic leadership.

But no President should publicly take a position against a current President, especially 10 days in.

What Obama should be doing (if anything) is asking the American people to calm down a little bit and see what happens. But that goes against Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals, which Hillary and Obama both subscribe to.

It sure didn’t take him long did it? The liberals lost, but they can’t stay out of the spotlight and want to make sure they continuing dividing the country!
This is so hypocritical. Has Donald Trump only been a uniting force for the country? You want someone that will unite the entire country? Not going to happen with the extreme partisanship we see in the US, it even shows up on this board.

When you have the likes of Charles Schumer saying the only way they will work with Trump is if he capitulates to their agenda, what can you expect? Add to that the hysteria and meltdowns by the left just because HC lost, what do you expect?

I had hoped he would take his family on a long, much needed vacation. You know, and visit all the golf courses in the world.
