Well since many people don’t seem put off by the way the protestors disrupted the democratic process by shouting down the senate, perhaps they also won’t be upset if pro-lifers shout down Ms. Davis at the next fiilibuster. The rule is that she can’t stop speaking for more than a few seconds… If yelling in screaming is enough to delay the vote then it is enough to delay Ms. Davis from being heard for long enough to break her fillibuster.
Never try to wrestle with a pig. You’ll both get dirty and he’ll enjoy it.

😃

As to Left or Right, your posts seem rather overly defensive of the pro aborts. As a Catholic I hope you are against abortion, but I have to wonder why you wanted to defend a group screaming down your cause
Declining to attack – or failing to attack vigorously enough to suit you – is not the same as defending. It’s certainly not “overly defensive”

My impression of Grace is that she likes to talk people down from ledges when they’re going a bit far in their attacks. For example calling people communists, monsters, trolls, or making careless Nazi analogies – all of which has happened in the last 12 hours here

Even if a filibuster were to be tried, it would fail without any obnoxious behavior (screaming,
etc.) because she would have to be speaking for days! The only reason this was attempted
is because of the window that presented itself on the last day of the session.

Since Wendy is now some sort of heroine for the left, we as pro-life and pro-women’s health
need to try and be as vocal in support of our legislators who spoke for our values. The left
has the media and lots of money, but we have the numbers and prayer. 👍👍

Obama campaign jumps into Texas abortion fight
Organizing for Action, the Obama campaign-turned-nonprofit, jumped into the fight about banning abortions in Texas after 20 weeks, promising to help state Democrats fight Gov. Rick Perry, R-Texas, to stop the bill.
“Because of one powerful woman’s voice — and the thousands of people who had her back — it didn’t go Governor Perry’s way on Tuesday night,” OFA’s Lindsey Siler wrote in an email today. “He called it a ‘breakdown of decorum and decency’ — and what he’s describing was the women of Texas, who literally had to scream to be heard to defend their rights from being stripped away by extremists.”

That is most kind, mwic. One of the kindest descriptions of me I’ve enjoyed, in fact. :curtsey:

This is so disingenuous and such a lie. It wasn’t “Gov Perry’s way” it was a vote of the Legislature. That women had to “scream” about “their rights” makes it sound like something other than the “right” to kill an unborn child after 20 weeks!

The lies by the Media include both what they say and more often what they DONT say.

Unfortunately the country is comprised of people who don’t take the time to get beyond the headline…and that means both sides. I hope the Pro Life community in Texas will take the time and spend the money to reveal the truth. Some photos of a baby in the womb at five months would help to educate as to what “rights” were at issue. It’s not a blob, it’s a baby.

Everyone points to British Parliament, but they have many rules that aren’t necessarily obvious to us Americans. They have spirited debate, but they don’t allow 1,000 people off the street into the chambers to cause disruption of their proceedings. It’s not the same thing AT ALL.
One other thing I like about British government is that the Prime Minister has to show up and actually ANSWER QUESTIONS from parliment.

They term these pro-abortionists, “the women of Texas??” How DARE THEY??? The women of Texas believe that babies are babies and deserve to live! The women of Texas want abortion clinics to be wiped out, but until we can do that, we want them to at least have some standards enforced so that more women are not hurt and killed. The women of Texas were not in the gallery of the Senate on Sunday night, screaming and acting like banshees. But we are supporting our representatives and the women of Texas will be gracious even after the bill passes. We’ll nicely smile and step over these freaks as they contort on the ground in abject grief because fewer babies will be killed. 😉

Praise the Lord is right! I live in Houston, TX and the news earlier this week of the bill failing has really made me sad. Thank you for sharing the link and Praise!

God Bless,
Tim

So does the physics principle of “every action causes an equal and opposite reaction” hold true in the political front as well?

Don’t say I didn’t warn you. 🙂

I’m beginning to think, just like with health care reforms, this is all about winning and losing and having very little to do with principles or abortion. What else can you call a bill effectively stating it’s okay to abort a 19-week fetus?

🙂 (And congrats – in over sixteen years of using the name in various online spots, you’re one of only two people to actually identify its source correctly.)
I picked up on it right away. That is also one of my all time favorite books.

And stoop to the level of the pro-aborts? Nah. Start deliberation on day 1 and let her try to filibuster the whole 30 days. Make it a real challenge, not just a whimpy 13 hours. 😉

Stand with . . . Death

The law that Wendy Davis and her fellow “pro-science” acolytes so bravely stood against would have rendered it illegal to kill the child after this point. And when I say kill, I mean kill. I mean break bones, rip apart limbs, crush skulls, drain fluids, still a beating heart, annihilate a brain that is capable of dreaming, and crush a nervous system. I mean: Kill. As David Freddoso put it yesterday, “Wendy Davis can now say, When the moment came to stand up for smashing the life out of a baby 6 mos into pregnancy, I was up to the task.” This is not an accomplishment of which she should be proud.
It just astonishes me the total disconnect on the Left. As with same sex marriage, science, biology and facts fly out of the window and are not to be considered. That they not only don’t mind killing unborn babies, they are so protective of the incompetent butchers who perform these surguries, that they want standards commensurate with a nail salon to suffice. That doctors who perform late term abortions should demonstrate the ability to react and treat post abortion complications, that can be life threatening, is apparently too much to ask.

I wish a rational person on the Left would explain this to me. They claim to want to protect women and aside from the reality that unborn female babies are being killed, the women, as we saw from Gosnell and other similar cases, are also abused, left with lifelong complications or even die as a result. There is apparently an abortionist in Texas (Carhart?) who’s practice is a mirror image of Gosnell’s. How these pro aborts protect the evil and the horror being practiced is hard to understand

Impossible - it’s a contradiction in terms! 😉

Actually Gosnell’s clinic wasn’t inspected to nearly the level of a nail salon.

And yes, it’s Carhart.

I was also wondering about your screen name, thinking maybe you care for an elderly or infirm person. Or maybe you like a sip of gin now and then. 😉
It didn’t occur to me that you’re an English teacher. I might not agree with your views on things but I do agree with your taste in literature! Jane Eyre is one of my favorite books.

Nobody has the right to murder an unborn HUMAN BEING. Which is exactly what abortion is. If you support abortion, you support murder. Period. End of story.

I am against laws that adversely affect UNBORN CHILDREN. Do not think that abortion is the only way to help poor, pregnant women. Abortion helps no one.
I am against any laws that adversely affect ONLY poor women. When the law applies to everyone, then that’s a different discussion.
