@Dr_Meinheimer Mr. Stamp is no more?

Re Luthor, I believe he for one welcomed our alien overlords.

We now return to our regularly scheduled programming.

I can only assume that they decided it wasn’t a hill worth dying on. Most people could care less about the pre-game activities. They’re out in the kitchen getting the beer or soda and their big bowl of munchies (hopefully a nice vege or fruit platter and not the amazing reuben dip that Peeps makes that turns dieters into piggies!) .

Although the sport is still immensely popular (I LOVE watching a good football game on a winter afternoon or evening, especially when the Bears actually win!), it is definitely in danger.

At the younger levels, parents are “just saying no,” alarmed by the studies that indicate the dangers (including early death) of repeated concussions. More schools are dumping football (very expensive) and starting soccer teams (EUUUGHH!–Peeps’ opinion of soccer!).

Soccer is definitely a more widely-played sport around the world, and there are plenty of opportunities for talented players, so it’s a win-win for parents (although I wonder if they will be as thrilled when they watch replays of those horrific soccer injuries in which the knee is bent in the opposite direction then it usually bends–shudder!).

A decrease in talented high school players means a decrease in talented college players, which make up the main recruiting field for NFL scouts. It’s entirely possible that future American football will actually look LESS spectacular than it looks today because of this decrease in talented recruits.

So why create a situation that may lead to a boycott of football by large groups of Americans? Let them kneel, and let the fans eat reuben dip until the game starts.

I don’t think it’s racist. I think the correct term is confirmation bias
Oh, so by not listening to socialists/ communists/fascists, I’m participating in confirmation bias. Let me ask you, how much time do you waste listening to Richard Spencer? And if you don’t, are you participating in confirmation bias?
And maybe they can tell you their views on the small minority of African Americans that you listen to.
The leftist media already provides plenty of coverage for them. I know what they say about policy, and how they disagree with the points of view American conservatives hold.
You see, unlike progressives, it isn’t about the race of the individual. It is about policy.

There was clear systematic bias in the policing of Ferguson based on traffic stops, etc.
And that is how Michael Brown got shot? Because of traffic stops?
Do you remember the phrase, “ hands up, don’t shoot “? That was made up. That isn’t what happened in Ferguson. The cop was found to have acted appropriately.
I think if there was no racial bias and the incident happened, it wouldn’t have sparked the response it did. Don’t forget that Tamir Rice also was killed by incompetent police around the same time.
The fact that you can mention the names of those who have been shot, shows that there is no systemic/ institutional racism in our law enforcement system unless you want to accuse Eric Holder as part of it. It was the Holder DoJ that found no civil rights violations against Wilson.

Of all the cases to coalesce around, Michael Brown should probably at the bottom of the list.

And Tamir Rice was gunned down by a pagoda.
I’ll let JonNC defend himself as he’s quite capable. What positive evidence do you have to support your assertion JonNC comments about Michael Brown are false?

Dorian Johnson’s assertion that Brown said “Hands up, don’t shoot” is not corroborated by ballistic or DNA evidence, nor supported by other witness statements.

Perhaps referencing the actual Brown case in your answer would be more insightful.

This reads like you are saying that you will listen to a few people and then refer to everyone else as a socialist/communist/fascist. Is this your intention?
No, it doesn’t. I’ve stated from the start, after the racist comment by another poster (have you as of yet condemned it?) that I won’t listen specifically to socialist/communist/fascist speakers. Their record Of totalitarian oppression, poverty and slaughter of civilians speak for itself.
I then gave a list of example of Americans who are black that I do listen to. No where did I imply that I wouldn’t listen to others.
So, you listen to them, but just disagree with them.
Of course.
It shows no such thing. These are the famous cases and the ones that show there may be an underlying problem. Statistically, there is an underlying problem. It’s the symptom and the disease.
Statistically, the problem is not related to systemic racism in law enforcement. Statistically, it has to do with blacks committing more crime. That isn’t related to the melanin in there skin. There are social and economic contributions to that fact.

Yeah - I looked it up. He’s in his early 80’s (and may he have many more years).

What was it that you are demanding I condemn?
I haven’t demanded anything. I simply asked if you had condemned to racist statement:
Nothing scares white folk like a black man standing up to them. /s
If you don’t want to, by all means, don’t.
And why is it a tactic on the right to demand that other things be condemned or else the person you are talking to is somehow insincere?
🤣. I don’t think it was conservatives who came up with the phrase, “silence is complicity”.
The excuse du jour of the day. Those blacks commit more crime hence they end up getting shot when unarmed and pulled over more.
Facts are not excuses. Progressives, of course, interpret this fact as an accusation based on race. It isn’t. The fact that American blacks commit more crime has nothing to do with melanin.
The fact that intra-racial crime rates among American blacks are significant does mean greater contact with police. None of that is an excuse for violations of individual rights, including due process and presumption of innocence, by agents of government, but victims of those criminals deserve justice, just like victims of government violence and abuse
deserve justice.

Brown’s case is problematic. Tamir Rice less so. The fact that blacks feel that the police treat them with racial bias is a problem and the Brown and Rice cases are symptoms of the larger disease, much like Floyd is now.
The Brown case was a symptom of Brown’s on making. The Floyd case, so far, is a case of a government agent violating the civil and individual rights of an American.
AFAIK, there has been no evidence presented that Chauvin’s actions were based on racial animus.
Larger disease? The larger disease I see is growing government power at the expense of individual rights, promoted and implemented by progressives.

the Brown and Rice cases are symptoms of the larger disease, much like Floyd is now.
No. Full stop. If you want to tie Rice and Floyd together as symptoms, fine.
To use Brown in the mix is to intentionally misrepresent the facts of that case. In other words, to prove your point, you introduced an untruth. This causes me to question the rest of what you post.

I guess not since I’m not sure what you are talking about.
Still. Here is the post from another poster that I was responding to.
Nothing scares white folk like a black man standing up to them. /s
My comment about Justice Thomas and the others was a response to that.
I simply asked you if you had condemned it.
I didn’t demand or require. You don’t have to if you don’t want to.
Oh, that. How is that racist exactly?
It states that, based on race, people are scared when a black person stands up to them. Aside from being false, it is, by definition, racist.
No, it seems more like an attempt to minimize the concern of the person you are having a conversation by saying, well you haven’t done this yet. Church Militant had an article saying that a priest of African heritage should condemn the attacks on Christians in his home country because he was protesting for BLM. It’s a clear method on the right. Just like you did here.
Not knowing the context of the article (I don’t read Church Militant), I cant say one way or another. I have no intention of minimizing your concern. You never expressed any concern about that post.

Then I think you joining them in protest would be an excellent opportunity for them to learn from you and vice versa. Just remember not to exercise your Second Amendment rights because the police seem to be a little more twitchy then they are when white people show up armed at the State House.
It is interesting how some, a few, who showed up for these protests were far more violent with bricks, bottles and fire than the protesters at Richmond with firearms were.
I don’t think there was any looting in Richmond, either. I also know that the vast majority of protesters the last couple of weeks were not violent either.
Should be ashamed. They aren’t, but they should be.
So should looters and rioters.
