Bristol Palin's 'DWTS' Success: Right-Wing Conspiracy or Improved Dancer Who Deserves to Win?

I have the opposite conspiracy. When I heard that Bristol Palin was going to be on DWTS, I thought that this would hurt Sarah Palin’s chances for running in 2012. Bristol is heavy “baggage” for Sarah whether we like it or not. As long as Bristol is on the show, the more it would hurt Sarah, and if Bristol wins it will focus negative attention on Sarah.

Bristol is a loose cannon, lets recap what is commonly known about her:

During 2008 campaign it was revealed she would have a baby.
Then Levi and Bristol were going to get married (uh oh teen marriages don’t work).
After the election, they broke up (shock I tell you!).
Then Bristol appears on Greta’s Fox News show and basically ridicules abstinence education as saying it doesn’t work.
Then a few months later Sarah and Bristol announce promotion of abstinence speaking engagements. When asked about Greta’s interview, it was said that Greta misrepresented what Bristol said. (Umm Fox doesn’t do that to Republicans)

Then sometime last year Bristol and Levi announce they are engaged on some entertainment show or magazine and state that Sarah doesn’t know about it yet!!!

Then Bristol goes on DWTS.

Loose cannon? Oh yeah!!!
Very condescending post, I must say. Bristol is a KID. With KID’S EMOTIONS. Yep, she screwed up, but she didn’t abort the baby. How many other kids at 19 do you know that have it all together when their mom is on the national scene and hateful people are chewing the entire Palin family up and spitting them out? She had the courage to dance, and regardless, the Palin haters are going to continue with their terrorizing whether or not she was part of DWTS or not.

Oh and BTW, I don’t think Sarah Palin is ready to become President, and actually I hope she doesn’t run, BUT… I do have a TON OF RESPECT for the entire Palin family. Sarah Palin loves this country and stands very strong for pro life family values, and I do think she is a HUGE asset to the Republican Party. I just don’t think she is a viable candidate for the Presidency, after all not everyone is cut out for that job.

OH PUHLEEZE! Anyone familiar with ballroom dance would immediately recognize the inferior quality of her performance when compared to the other real contenders. I hope in the future they no longer allow anyone to compete who is even remotely in the political limelight, but the judges scores were based upon musicality and interpretation, choreography, technique, and timing.

So you think the mirror ball trophy was due and payable to her just because she had to bear the hatred and scorn of the left? What you are suggesting is just as bad as “fixing” the judging. This is an entertainment show and a DANCE contest - not solely based upon popularity. Give some credit to the best dancer who won with consistent high scores despite some serious injuries and tough decisions to make. :yup:

Geesh!
This is a tv show. The purpose is to attract an audience so they can charge more for advertising fees. They use a popular vote, based on whatever the audience wants to vote on. That’s because on the first show, the judges were able to pick the final winner and they based it on who they thought was the “better” dancer. The public didn’t agree and complained. They changed the rules after that. They wanted to please their audience and stay in business.

How I decide to vote, as one person in the audience, is much different from the show producers changing the rules to control the outcome. The show has always kept worse dancers and voted out the better dancers. It’s all based on audience opinions. That’s why they have the little personal scenes to make people sympathetic or feel like a friend. It’s all tricks. Nothing wrong with it either.

DWTS is sooooooooooooo overrated with some people…it’s an ENTERTAINMENT SHOW so it of utmost importance to people? REALLY? This is what a lot of people focus on…DWTS???

LOL. I sooooooo agree with you, I said in another post People take this show way too serious. I don’t watch it, never watched it and have no intention of watching it. it is just a silly reality show.

I don’t listen to Rush, but I used to. Anyone who is familiar with his show would automatically recognize a tongue-in-cheek comment when he makes it. Without even hearing the segment, I can tell. It’s his way of poking fun at the over-the-top anger by liberals over Bristol Palin’s making it to the finals. 🙂

And, that is exactly where the “popularity” portion of the show comes from. I think the producers are smart to put a good mix of backgrounds on the show, so they can draw from multiple demographics. A celebrity’s fan base is just as important as their dance skills…until the finals.
I can’t stand to watch the DWTS program any more. Had enough. I just ask who won.

Saves a lot of time.

There was one professional, a young woman, and in rehearsals she used to make the sign of the cross. Then she got married. She hasn’t been around much since then.

Anyway … some time back, Limbaugh got asked to judge the Miss America contest in Las Vegas. Didn’t he win the dance contest there?

Limbaugh won a dance contest? What year was that?

Which begs the question, who has time to watch these mindless shows? There is so much on television to waste time on such as DWTS, or Joy Behar or the like.

Uh…me and some of the other people in this thread that enjoy watching these types of shows.
