Britain’s human rights policies violate natural law, Pope says [Times-UK]

If only the Pope would condemn the following as strongly as he condemns homosexuals and transsexuals in this article:
  • bigots who hurt people of other races
  • promiscuous people who hurt family members
  • priests who sexually abuse children
  • pedophiles who hurt children
  • big corporations that hurt millions of people in the name of profit/out of greed
He makes homosexuals and transsexuals look like the biggest sinners in the world.

Welcome to CAF! Your title needs to match the articles headline.

Also, you are misrepresenting the pope. He doesn’t condemn homosexuals or transsexuals in the article. The statements are about the equality law and the manner in which it infringes on the rights of others - especially religious freedom.
 
Churches feared that they could be prosecuted if they refused to go against their beliefs and employ gays and transsexuals, and Catholics warned that they could be forced to admit women to the priesthood. The Government has always insisted that neither scenario was an intention of the legislation.

It may not be an intention, but that doesn’t mean that people besides “the government” won’t try to do such a thing.

And, of course, the government can lie, too. It has been known to do that no matter what country you’re from.

I think that the quote I just posted says more about the Pope’s words rather than any sort of “hate” towards homosexuals and transsexuals.

Not long ago, many christians seemed to think slavery was compatible with christianity. I am guessing not too many do today. Is there a reason why christian morals can change as time goes by?

If you read the article, the issue is when the attempt to give “equal rights” end up trampling other people’s rights. Slavery is a red herring.

Slavery is not a red herring, it is a concrete example of the flux of christian morality.

EDIT to add: there is one great way to stop this from happening to the catholic church. Stop expecting tax dollars to go to funding it, then you may have a say in the matter. Pay for your own expenses, then no one can do this to you. In the UK, tax dollars go to maintaining the monolith churches and it should come from catholics.

Those that know of the Lord and then deny Him are the biggest sinners.

But homosexuals, transexuals and other sodomites are grave sinners too.

And by the way, who cares what some trashy English tabloid viewpoint is?

Is the UK government trying to make any of the mandatory? The UK, as a governmental organization, certainly IS trying to push the homosexual agenda on the Church. So yes, the Pope should object when a governmental organization is trying to oppose Natural Law as a matter of policy.

I never “knew” of the “Lord” and don’t deny him so much as think his existance is very very unlikely.

Anyhoo. Are you saying that this is not happening in the UK now?

By the way, what are your opinions on tax dollars being used to support your churches?

Why not just have catholics pay for the maintaining their own property? Then this would not be an issue for catholics. But, when you benefit from tax dollars, then you have to deal with the government. That is why this is not happening in the US.

No, they are not. They are simply acting like a government and not like a religion. Stop accepting tax money to maintain your churches and then they will have to leave you alone.

Really?, so if an organization doesn’t accept tax money, then they will be exempt form these ‘equality’ laws.

Is that what you are saying?

If so, could you point out in the proposed law where that exclusion exists?

Homosexual activists are attempting to destroy the traditional institution of marriage.
They are not alone, of course, other libertines join with them because they share the notion that sex and childbearing are only accidentally linked, that the primary purpose of the sex act is personal satisfaction.

how are transsexuals sinners ?

could it be by having the gall to try and fix a medical defect ?

gee i feel pretty sure you wouldnt say that about any other pre-birth medical defects like say cleft lip or a hole in the heart or any other one of the unlimited things that can occur to a developing fetus.

Fortunately, medical science knows exactly what biological parts a person with XY chromosomes is supposed to have. So you are correct, if a person’s physiology is lacking parts that their genetics says they are supposed to have, surgery is appropriate.

But if their XY chromosomes say they are supposed to have certain parts, and those parts are functioning with human norms for those parts, and they elect to have them removed, then it is NOT repairing a defect, that is mutiltation.

with what we know today there is a lot more to these issues than just the xx vs xy what with all the other variations there are. the big issue here is not to do with the chromosomes anyway and if onee were to actually pull their head out of the sand and do a bit of research one would find that the transsex person is a neurological intersexed condition and not just some psycho sicko who wants their willy chopped off. it is very much a woman (brain) in a mans body or viceversa and medical science does back this up. as the cross gendering happens well before birth why should they be denied the medical practises of fixing as much as possible the defect as any other prebirth condition is allowed to have.
