Is this the beginning of 1938 all over again?
Britain kow tows to China as athletes are forced to sign no criticism contracts
By ROB DRAPER and DANIEL KING -
British Olympic chiefs are to force athletes to sign a contract promising not to speak out about China’s appalling human rights record – or face being banned from travelling to Beijing.
The move – which raises the spectre of the order given to the England football team to give a Nazi salute in Berlin in 1938 – immediately provoked a storm of protest.
With the religious persecution and other human rights violations in China, I plan not to watch one second of the Olympics. In fact, we should demand that NBC drop their broadcast of the Olympics.

Section 51 of the International Olympic Committee charter, which “provides for no kind of demonstration, or political, religious or racial propaganda in the Olympic sites, venues or other areas”.
Says it all, and the reason this family will not watch nor support the sponsors of these games. While the games are being televised we will try our best avoid any of the products used to promote this travesty.

Could WWIII be in a couple of years? 1936 Berlin Olympics and three years later, WWII began.:mad:

I read someplace that the modern Olympic Games were started in 1896 so that nations would better understand each other. Twenty years later they understood each other so well that we had the First World War.

Nothing that comes out of Britain surprises me anymore. I moved from London last year and it ws the best move I ever made. One of the most horrible places to live, except maybe Afghanistan. Ì don`t miss it one bit.

I know this might sound even more depressing, but I could see that happening here in the US too.

You can’t call something for what it is anymore for “offending someone” - we reap what we sow.
