Is anyone else here in Britain? IS there any campaign against this I cannot find any!??? I am disgusted.
There were some announcements about this proposal earlier this year, which is going to be subject to formal consultation. Both the Catholic and Anglican church has said they will not allow gay marriage in their churches:

I found this too:

The Netherlands in 2001 was the first country to legalize same-sex marriages, with the first marriages performed in the Amsterdam city hall on 1 April 2001. Since then, same-sex marriages have been performed legally by Belgium (2003), Spain (2005), Canada (2005), South Africa (2006), Norway (2009), Sweden (2009), Portugal (2010), Iceland (2010), Argentina (2010).

In the United States, same-sex marriages are performed in its federal district, the District of Columbia (2010), and in six states: Massachusetts (2004), Connecticut (2008), Iowa (for 4 hours in 2007 and from 2009), Vermont (2009), New Hampshire (2010), and New York (2011). A 1996 law prevents the U.S. federal government from recognizing same-sex marriages, but this law is under challenge in the courts and was recently ruled unconstitutional by a federal district court in Massachusetts.[1][2] This ruling is currently under a stay, but if the stay is lifted, same-sex marriages in Massachusetts would be afforded both state and federal recognition. If the case is affirmed on appeal, it could be applied regionally in the U.S. or, if affirmed by the U.S. Supreme Court, nationwide.

In Mexico, same-sex marriages are only performed in Mexico City (2010),[3] but same-sex marriages are legally recognized throughout the country.

I am not British, but the Catholics there should be up and arms! This would be a treacherous act indeed.

Take caution, remember it is the stone that the builders rejected that became the cornerstone. The energy of rejection supports an equal and opposing energy of support in these matters.
What does this mean? I cannot figure it out.

Only a handful of Bishops from the BCEW have publicly stated their opposition (there are 28-31 Bishops) to the proposed legislation. However, the BCEW has launched a consultation with Catholics on the equality law, which has more to do with "…how best to resolve problems without seeking legal redress.”. than to mass a rally against the proposed legislation. 🤷

You are disgusted. I am disgusted. But, I suspect this legislation will be enacted and the aim of “consultation” in Parliament will only relate to safeguard provisions for religious institutions. I would be more than happy to be proved wrong. If I am right, then I look forward to the day when the pendulum swings back.

It’s known as progress.
progress towards a totally depraved nation? 🤷

I am sorry to hear of this news - Britain Christians have been having enough trouble as it is with the gay rights debate. It’s awful to me that as “gay rights” expand, religious rights diminish. This is where my real frustration comes in.

The world seems to be steadily moving further and further from God’s law and natural law. I can’t imagine how long God will let this continue until his return.

Parliament can redefine marriage as much as it wants to. However, it does not mean we have to accept a farce. I have told my MP that it if he supports this legislation, he might as well write off his political career.

I knew about this before but I just got the opportunity to write something. I will keep looking for a campaign maybe FB would be good to start? There are millions of catholics in Britain we need to make our voices heard, I never imagined it with a ‘conservative’ government in Britain. We should look for protestant groups who will fight against this, I am sure the CofE will be silent like always but maybe the evangelicals?

That is exactly how I feel. To be perfectly honest, if gay marriage was legal here in the states across the board it wouldn’t change my opinion on what marriage is one bit.

Where this gets really ugly is basic religious freedom. I’m hearing of more and more cases where preachers are getting locked up for “hate crimes” by preaching against homosexuality, religious adoption agencies are being shut down, so on and so on. It’s heartbreaking. My husband and I agree that if Christian persecution, to the point of imprisonment and even death, starts in the “first world” and non-Muslim run countries - it will be on the back of “Gay Rights.”

The campaign must start with the MPs, Condor. Start with members in your Parish, then your group can solicit the support of the evangelical, Hindu, Sikhs, Muslim, Jewish communities etc. in your ward, Then link up with the others in your borough. Tell your MP how he casts his vote on this one will be monitored.

Now…Now…be nice. The mods obviously disagree with you. I totally oppose this also, but this message board accepts all types of opinions, as long as they are respectful and they are not proselytizing their religion. Nothing this person this poster has said indicates this person is any of those. 👍

Out of curiosity, could you name one or two rights of religious people that will be hampered by gay marriage?
  1. Eventually, many will say, Gay rights groups like GLAAD will sue institutions like the Catholic Church over the right to have Gays marry within it. In the name of “equality.” At the very least, their tax exempt status could be taken away as “punishment” for practicing “discrimination.” The second point is already being proposed by many people here in the US.
  2. Catholic adoption agencies will continue to close rather than be forced by the federal government to allow adoptions to gay couples. Gay marriage will further encourage gay couples to demand the “full rights” that heterosexual marriage entails, which include the right to adopt. Most Catholic adoption agencies cannot afford to go private. Therefore, rather than give up their beliefs, they will choose to close.
  3. If gay marriage is allowed, what is to stop OTHER forms of “marrige” to be legitimized? How about Polyamorous Marriages? Bigamous Marriages? Polygamous Marriages?
Those are some examples there.

There ya go.
