Thoughts, theories opinions? I think the PM would appreciate answers on a postcard.

Where do we go from here?

Bercow hit the nail on the head yesterday. In fact if he were PM things would be much better I’m sure.

It was obvious Johnson was aiming for a GE as soon as the big spending announcements came out. Most people saw through it straight away.

I think it’s been obvious since the leadership campaign, to be honest.

I think Johnson is way, way out of his depth. Because he loves to be loved, and he really isn’t loved right now. All the protests, losing six votes since he took over, being criticised at PMQs, his own brother quitting because he couldn’t support what the government were doing, having to sack MPs including his idol’s grandson…

I think he’s finally realised he can’t wing being PM. So there will be an election soon, but what happens there is anyone’s guess. I don’t expect any party to get a majority.

It is just my opinion, but I think leaving the European Union was a mistake.
But I am an opinionated American and I suppose you who live there could care little about what I think.
Boris Johnson reminds me much of Donald Trump. I did not vote for Trump in 2016. I think even less of him three years after the fact. But that is solely my opinion. I don’t want some Trump zealot to flag my post cause they hate my politics.

We haven’t left just yet 😉 but I think it will be one of the biggest mistakes we’ll ever make if/when we do. Already, I think we are making mistakes by preparing to leave.

I didn’t realise I could think lesser of Johnson than I did before he took office, but I do and it’s only been a matter of weeks. I dread to think of my opinion of him if he stays for years and years.

I have a question for any CAFers now living in the UK. Did yesterday’s 311-302 vote repeal the Official Secrets Act?

One possible answer is No, it did not. Repeal would take another Act of Parliament. In which case, the next question is this: What will happen if Johnson replies in the following terms? “The Prime Minister regrets that he is prevented from disclosing the internal correspondence regarding Operation Yellowhammer, as requested under the terms of last Monday’s vote in the House of Commons, because to do so would be a punishable offence under the Official Secrets Act.”

If Johnson takes that course, would he be held in contempt of Parliament? Or if not that, then what?

Our form of Democracy is a little different that yours, but with the wrong man in charge, be it Donald Trump or Boris Johnson, it can be hurt. A lesson for us all to understand.
