Jesus tells us about a broad and a narrow road and that many are on the broad road and only a few on the narrow road.Would anyone care to conjecture what proportion/percentage are on each road - twinc
What does it matter? All percentages are purely conjecture. It probably changes from minute to minute. What is the point?Jesus tells us about a broad and a narrow road and that many are on the broad road and only a few on the narrow road.Would anyone care to conjecture what proportion/percentage are on each road - twinc
If 100,000 people were to die right now, I would say that 7 went to heaven, 2 went to purgatory, and the rest went to hell.
I say this from the bottom of my heart, as God as my witness:
I believe I would be one of those in hell. If I were to die right now, in all likelihood I would be in hell.
Could the 10 lepers who were cured by Jesus bring this to mind? Only 1 came back and expressed his gratitude.10% :yukonjoe:
catholicapologetics.info/modernproblems/ecumenism/fewsave.htmThe following narrative from Saint Vincent Ferrer will show you what you may think about it. He relates that an archdeacon in Lyons gave up his charge and retreated into a desert place to do penance, and that he died the same day and hour as Saint Bernard. After his death, he appeared to his bishop and said to him, "Know, Monsignor, that at the very hour I passed away, thirty-three thousand people also died. Out of this number, Bernard and myself went up to heaven without delay, three went to purgatory, and all the others fell into Hell."
Absolute waste of time speculating!Jesus tells us about a broad and a narrow road and that many are on the broad road and only a few on the narrow road.Would anyone care to conjecture what proportion/percentage are on each road - twinc
Some good quotations, here.“
“There be very many come to the faith, yet but few arrive at the heavenly kingdom; many follow God in words, but shun Him in their lives. Whereof spring two things to be thought upon. The first, that none should presume ought concerning himself; for though he be called to the faith, he knows not whether he shall be chosen to the kingdom. Secondly, that none should despair of his neighbor, even though he see him lying in vices; because he knows not the riches of the Divine mercy.”—Pope Gregory the Great c AD 600
St. Leonard of Port Maurice O.F.M. (A.D. 1751) in a Homily on the Fewness of the saved says:

Is that from official figures given by the Church or some random newspaper survey?a recent survey/research in America revealed that 2/3rds of Christian youths gave up the faith and were already gone before commencing employment or college and lest we say not Catholics,97%of Catholic school leavers in England walk away from the Church each year.So according to this yardstick only 3 or 4 % remain on the narrow road - twinc
It is well known that the Catholic population was considerably boosted between 2001 and 2009 from Polish immigration etc - regarding figures given try very reliable all Catholic source at www.proecclesia.com and its newsletter The Flock[Crisis in the Church-page 3]vol.12 No.3 - twincIs that from official figures given by the Church or some random newspaper survey?
Your figures would indicate the number of Catholics in the country would be substantially reducing every year.
How does that fit with there being 4.1 million Catholics in England & Wales in 2001 and 4.5 million in 2009?
Thanks for the site but can you tell me where in the site to look for the figures? It is well known that the Catholic population was considerably boosted between 2001 and 2009 from Polish immigration etc - regarding figures given try very reliable all Catholic source at www.proecclesia.com and its newsletter The Flock[Crisis in the Church-page 3]vol.12 No.3 - twinc
IMO, if you have room to look around you and speculate about other people, you’re probably on the wrong road. Just my :twocents:Jesus tells us about a broad and a narrow road and that many are on the broad road and only a few on the narrow road.Would anyone care to conjecture what proportion/percentage are on each road - twinc
