First, I have the impression that Michael Voris is Persona non grata in this forum. At little over the top at times and a negative influence. However, like regular news services, I like to listen to all sides of an issue (from Fox to CNN) to find the middle ground and hopefully the truth. Voris is painting a very ugly picture of the situation.

Facts and rumors abound about the Diocese covering up prior issues concerning this Priest. The New York media is going to have a field day with this one. This smacks so similar to the damage control that most Diocese inacted during the child abuse crisis. I hope and pray this is not so.
I’ve spent most of my life in the NY Archdiocese.

There was a similar conviction of embezzlement (no gay sex scandal) just a number of years ago.

Someone, thinks that the Archdiocese of NY is a heterodox hot mess. That is his thesis statement, so all evidence that he uses is going to support that thesis. I’m not sure its objective journalism.

My experience hasn’t been that at all.

If you read some of the complaints parishioners had against him, they are complaining about him being overly strict, such as denying confirmation to a girl who did not go the religious education frequently.

If he embezzled money it is a criminal action and he should be prosecuted.

If the allegations are not true, especially the gay sex allegations, then to me the scandal would be just worse. Rash judgment, calumny and detraction are still sins.

My one concern with Church Militant is that Michael Voris takes Michael Voris very seriously - for example, his new book ‘Militant’ has his face on the cover. I always worry about crusading Catholics who put themselves forward as part of their cause. But his coverage of this case is good - as he points out the archdiocese has known the facts for years and has done nothing. The bottom line is that the Church has still to purge its clerical ranks of homosexuals. A true reform of the clergy has yet to take place.
