It is truly a blessing to all of us to hear from you. May God continue to hold you in His loving arms. You are in my prayers.

👋

Praying for you, your men in formation, and of course for the children!

Dear Brother JR,
Continued prayers for your health & recovery as well as your intentions. God bless. ❤️

Who is Brother JR and what is going on with him, because it seems serious and want to pray for him.

Brother Jay is currently the Superior for Franciscans For Life (franciscansoflife.org/). He is a long time member of the Forums. He is not only more intelligent than I (and 99% of our forum co-posters) but is able to share and teach that knowledge in a way that is both firm and gentle. Anyone who has read his posts will understand - go into his post history and look around. It is well worth it.

More than his sharing of knowledge is his sharing of his vocation. He is a true example of the kind of person Jesus calls us all to be. If I had more courage I would be more like him.

Brother has had numerous serious medical issues that have kept him from regularly posting on the forums but his wisdom, love and godliness have touched many of us - thus this thread.

yup. Most of his explanatory threads should be stickies.
He has really illuminated many topics and clarified many misconceptions as to what certain saints did, said, etc.
I would highly recommend going through some of his posting history. You’ll learn a lot!
He’s a wonderful, humble, and highly educated person.
He’s much beloved. 🙂

Hello Friends:

I’m glad to see that many of you are still here and that you have not forgotten me. I’m posting tonight, because it’s a very important night for the brothers in my community. It’s the eve of the Solemnity of John the Baptist. Very often we don’t think much about The Baptist until one of his feasts comes around or there is a Gospel reading that mentions him.

When I founded our little community one of the first inspirations that came to me was from the relationship between John the Baptist and Jesus. Everyone asked if our community was going to have priests. I always said that the Lord did not ask me to found a community of priests, but a community that reproduces the original fraternal spirit of the first generation Franciscans and our holy father St. Francis.

People often thought that the religious brother was subservient to the priest. I thought about this for a long time. One day, I opened the scriptures and read where Christ said that there is “no man greater born of woman than John the Baptist.”

But who was John the Baptist? He was the last prophet. Why, because there was no need of any more prophets. You see, it was the honor of the last prophet to point out the Lamb of God, who is also the high priest, Jesus Christ. That’s exactly what a religious brother is called to do. He brings people out into the marketplace through his fraternal works of charity. When he has their attention, he points to them the Lamb of God who awaits them in the sacraments of Holy Mother Church. That’s where those who share in the priesthood of Jesus Christ enter the journey of the spiritual pilgrim.

As you can see, this is a very special holy day for those of us, religious and lay, who dedicate our time, resources and gifts to preparing the way of the Lord for the least of our brothers and sisters.

I have to go now. It’s getting late and I have to take my meds, pray Compline and get to bed. I beg you not to forget me. Your prayers keep me going.

I awake every day, ready to offer whatever God asks of me. But I know that such strength and desire does not come from me, because I’m a simple man and a sinner. No . . . such desire and willingness to live and suffer for the Lord comes from your prayers.

Thank You

Thank you, Brother JR! It’s nice to hear from you. Hail, Mary, full of grace,…

God’s peace! This feast is special to me: My mama grew up in a tiny mountain parish near a New Mexico silver mine…St John the Baptist, and today, the Feast is the anniversary of her death.
God bless you and everyone there. We do keep you in our prayers, Father! ❤️

Thank you for your latest post about John the Baptist, Brother JR.
9 Glory Be’s for the children and Brother JR
