I also keep you in my prayers, Brother JR – even if I do not post. God bless you and your Community always!

Luz Maria

Brother Jay, still praying for you as well, and I, for one, miss your soothing presence on CAF very much. You were able to get your point across without being insulting or harsh. That is a gift not many have.

Praying for the community and especially, for the children.
Love you Brother Jay!
St. Clare’s day tomorrow! YAY! 🙂

Dear BrJR,
Blessed & Happy Feast Day to you & your fellow Brothers. God Bless you all.

Happy St Francis feast,Brother Jay!.
Praying for you and the children.

Let me tack in a note about vocations. As I am getting closer to having a teenager, I know that my opportunity to speak about vocations will increase. I know many here will have similar opportunity. It is good, in addition to speak in general, to have specific avenues in our head, to use as example, or as direction. For those interested, I can think of nothing more honoring to the the work Brother JR is doing than checking out the Franciscans of Life in Florida and remembering them when we discuss vocations with young people.

Sometimes I think I’m psychic. I thought about this thread out of the blue this morning and thought it was time to bring it back up so Brother Jay knows we do not forget him. And now, here it is!

Always praying for you, dear Brother. Happy Feast of St. Francis to you and your community! :grouphug:

Happy Thanksgiving Brother JR. I miss reading your postings and praying with you here on CAF and hope that you are close to our Lord, today and always.
May God bless you and keep you and may he bless the children and parents so dear to your heart.
Amen.

Dear Br. JR, hoping you & your fellow Brothers had a Blessed & Happy Thanksgiving. God bless.

My dearest friends:

Please forgive me for not touching base sooner.

First, my health is stable. I am still bound to a wheelchair, which may be a permanent condition. Although, I’m learning to use a walker. Getting up is the challenge, as I have no sensations on my feet. My heart condition, diabetes and COPD are still present, but thanks to the Immaculate, the condition is not progressing. As a matter-of-fact, I can function with small increments exertion. Let’s face it, I’m 65 years old. I’m not spring chicken. Can’t expect to fly at my age, because I’m no longer a canary.

Second, I continue my apostolate to the voiceless. I’m still directing Project Joseph for the Archdiocese of Miami, though I rarely go to my office anymore. It’s much easier for me to run things remotely. Thank God for email, instant messaging, blogs and other means of communication. These days I’m doing a lot of writing on diverse topics, always related to the Gospel of Life.

Other good news, we have welcomed two new men into our little community. One is a postulant and the other is an aspirant. Please pray that God grants them the grace of perseverance. This has created a good problem for us. That being – that we need an additional house. Unfortunately, for the time being, we don’t have enough funds to pay a month’s rent in advance. If anyone is feeling generous this Christmas season, all gifts are welcome. You may use PayPal by going to our website, www.franciscansoflife.org

Now we get to real begging. Please keep in mind the well-being and health of two very important people in our life as a community. Brother Bernard’s father has been very sick. He was just discharged from the hospital. No one seems to know the cause of his symptoms. He is an older man. But he’s the only dad that Brother Bernard has. It has always been part of Franciscan tradition that the parent of one brother is the parent of the entire brotherhood.

Secondly, our Brother Leo was just released from the hospital after complications from an infection. He is doing much better, but needs to rest before he goes back into active duty. Remember him in your prayers. Ask the Immaculate to make him strong very soon. He’s a horrible patient, which makes life more difficult for all. This man is a nurse practitioner who knows his stuff. Doctors and nurses make bad patients. I’m never sure whether to pray for the patient or the healthcare team. LOL

I also have some joyful news. On October 15, 2016 my daughter gave birth to her first child, my first grandchild. Her name is Katherine Marie Therese Sogne. It’s French, pronounced “sun- yay”. She’s adorable, stubborn and very opinionated. She does not like to have her dirty clothes changed for clean ones and she is convinced that baths are not her thing. Despite all of this, she’s beautiful, because she looks like her maternal grandfather. 😃

I will be flying to Virginia, with one of the brothers as my companion, for Katherine’s baptism in two weeks. Did I ever mention how much I “love” airports?

I hope to be in touch sometime during Advent and Christmas. Sometimes, it’s hard for me to work on the computer, because my eyes are going blind as a result of my diabetes and a stroke that I suffered last year. There are days that I can see better than others. God always knows how to do things. Ever since I became immobilized and have started losing my vision, custody of the eyes has ceased to be a challenge. I have always asked the Immaculate for two favors.

One – the blessing a true repentance for my sins. I imagine that she can’t deny that request.

Second – the strength to triumph in my daily battle with the senses.

As usual, my dearest Immaculate is granting both favors. Please remember to ask her for the grace that leads to true repentance from sin and open the path to her Son.

In closing, thank you for your prayers and for remembering me. I never forget any of you.

On earth or in heaven, I will never cease to be your brother.

Forever in our prayers…God bless you, your work, and the children!!!
Thank you so much for taking the time to keep us up to date…
Clare

Thank you so much for the update Brother! 1,000 congratulations on the new additions to your families! My prayers for all that they may grow in holiness and for the special intentions of your brother Bernard’s father and brother Leo.
May Our Lady keep them safe and secure under her mantle, as well as the children so dear to your heart.
Amen.

Brother, please be assured of my prayers for you and the other Brothers. 🙂 It was good to hear from you, too.

Dear Brother, a monk I admire very much once told me that airports are proof of the doctrine of Original Sin 😛

I pray that you have a safe journey, I pray for your new granddaughter and her mom, and I pray for you and your community and all the little nameless ones you are doing your best to give the same chance to life that your new granddaughter was given. As an adopted person myself I’m sure you can imagine how much your mission means to me.

God bless,

Ora.
