For brother JR, for his brothers and his family, and for all of the children that he and his brothers hold close in their hearts:

Sub Tuum Praesiduum Under Thy Patronage
We fly to your patronage, O Holy Mother of God:
despise not our petitions in our necessities,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.
Amen.

Regina Coeli

Queen of Heaven, rejoice,
alleluia.

For He whom you did merit to bear,
alleluia.

Has risen, as he said,
alleluia.

Pray for us to God,
alleluia.

Rejoice and be glad, O Virgin Mary,
alleluia.

For the Lord has truly risen,
alleluia.

Let us pray.

O God, who gave joy to the world through the resurrection of Thy Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, grant we beseech Thee, that through the intercession of the Virgin Mary, His Mother, we may obtain the joys of everlasting life. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

Praying for you with the help of our Blessed Mother!

:harp:

Regina coeli laetare,
Alleluia,
Quia quem meruisti portare.
Alleluia,
Resurrexit,
Sicut dixit,
Alleluia.
Ora pro nobis Deum.
Alleluia.

I finally managed to get in touch with Br. Jay and here is his answer. His health is crazy, but I can’t deny I see the Holy Spirit sustaining him at every turn.

JREducation:
Thanks for your concern. I’m doing OK. Just got out of the hospital, again. I was in there for 48 hours, form Monday to Wednesday. I’m going to buy a timeshare in that place. The rooms are awesome; but the food stinks. Bring your own brown bag lunch. :yup:

My diabetes is running amuck. It’s causing my blood pressure to rise through the roof and my kidneys to fail. But I can’t complain. I’m comfortable. The brothers, family and friends have been very kind.

I pushed it a little. We had a confirmation last weekend. I was asked to be a sponsor by a youngster who was my 5th grade student in CCD. An interesting little guy. His family is non-believing; but very nice people. This boy went to mass with a neighbor and liked it. He asked his parents for permission to attend CCD, which they gave. His first class was my Grade Five. I teach Old Testament Christology. Don’t try to find a book. It does not exist. I’m still writing it. I hope to finish it before I leave this world. But that’s another story.

He liked it very much. That year he asked to be received into the Church. The following year he was baptized and received First Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil. He asked me to be his godparent for Baptism, something about me being influential in his conversion, which I don’t believe.

This year, he asked me if I would be his Confirmation sponsor. The beautiful part of this story is that I’ve been able to share a great deal with his parents. They’re now interested in attending religious education, but not through RCIA. They want to have private classes with me. This is a little delicate, because diocesan policy requires RCIA for everyone, even the EF people. I don’t know if I can get an exception made for them. We’ll see. If God wants it to happen, it will. If it doesn’t happen, then God’s not very interested in doing it differently.

Anyway, I went to two Confirmation parties that day, one with the bishop and another at my godson’s home. I know that I ate a lot. That must have sent my glucose into chaos mode.

Sunday night, I had a community function that lasted a few hours. We’re receiving four more men into our community. This makes a total of eight men in formation. I sit down with the formation director and look at everything to make sure that it’s all in order. I’m very pleased. The Lord is doing great things. Our men in formation range from 18 to 45. They’ve come from Boston, Miami, Washington DC, Colombia, Ethiopia, Jamaica, Peru and Haiti.

Something else . . .I’ve been having a dialogue with a Jewish friend. We go back and forth via email. I’ve never met him. He read a few articles that I wrote about Franciscan Spirituality and wrote to me. We’ve been going back and forth for about six months.

I never set out to convert him. As you know, that’s not allowed. However, I do answer his questions, which is allowed and I’m always available. Once in a while, we may speak on the telephone, not too often, because of time differences. His mid-afternoon is about 3:00 AM for me.

To make a long story a tad shorter, I received an email today in response to my latest answer to his question about Jesus and the Talmud. I had explained to him how parts of the Talmud actually speak of Jesus, if one is Jewish and knows how to read the Talmud academically. He responded today saying, “That actually makes sense. So what do I need to do to become a Catholic?”

That’s all that’s been happening.

God reward you, Church Militant, for your faithfulness in keeping us updated on Brother.

Thank you Church Militant.

Praying for Brother JR.

Memorare (Prayer to Our Lady)
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help, or sought your intercession, was left unaided.
Inspired by this confidence, I fly unto you, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother. To you do I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen

:signofcross:

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.
World without end.
Amen.

May God bless you, your brothers, and the children in your care Brother, and may Our Lady intercede for you always.
Amen.

For the intentions of Brother JR. Please bless him this day.

Our Father who art in Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.
Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb Jesus.
Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death.
Amen.

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
As it was in the beginning is now ever shall be world without end
Amen.

Please continue praying for Bro. Jay. He’s back in the hospital.

Include his intentions with yours…

JREducation:
I don’t pray that I recover. Thought that would be nice too. I’m ready to leave, if I have to. I received the Sacrament of the Sick and the Holy Eucharist tonight.
I pray for several other intentions.
  1. Always the grace to cheerfully accept the will of God.
  2. The grace to set a good example for others who suffer.
  3. That when I leave this world, my example of faith remain alive in my son and daughter.
  4. The my Franciscans of Life will persevere in proclaiming the Gospel of Life to the voiceless long after I’ve gone.
  5. When I get to heaven, I be granted the honor of becoming a special advocate for single and widowed dads.
    Amen.

Please continue praying for Bro. Jay. He’s back in the hospital.
Your message sounds ominous, Choliks!
I don’t know quite how to respond, except that, being a faithful Son and Servant, we can be grateful that Brother is wonderfully prepared for whatever God’s will is in his regard. But with the wording of his message (numbers 3-5), it sounds like he’s more seriously ill with this particular admission to the hospital. I’ll remember him especially at Mass this morning.
