Burger King sells gay pride Whopper

The Proud Whopper, as it’s called, comes wrapped in a rainbow colored wrapper with this inscription: “We are all the same inside.” It will be sold through Thursday at one Burger King restaurant on San Francisco’s Market Street, that was at the heart of the route for last weekend’s 44th annual San Francisco Pride Celebration & Parade.

All Proud Whopper sandwich sales, Machado says, will be donated to the Burger King McLamore Foundation for scholarships benefiting LGBT high school seniors graduating in spring 2015.

Haven’t eaten there in years. Yuck, yuck, yuck. But my daughter did just put an application in there. She WILL NOT be working there now.

Almost all Burger Kings are franchises, and I certainly have not heard about this here. In fact I was going to bring my Burger King coupons to share with other choir members tonight because we have a practice at 5:00 PM with a break before our patriotic concert at 7:00. The BK franchise two blocks from the Cathedral is owned by a family that includes the deacon who serves as the master of ceremonies for our bishop.

I am pretty sure the closest thing to this we will encounter is that we are singing a piece entitled “Armed Forces–The Pride of America!” It is a medley of Army, Navy, Marine, Air Force, and Coast Guard songs where veterans of each service stand up when their service’s song starts, and concludes with the Pledge of Allegiance and the National Anthem. It is a cheap trick to get lots of applause every year.

PS. C’mon down tonight. Free Concert. Free Parking. Free ice cream afterwards.
 
Glad I don’t eat Burger King anymore! I’d rather eat Subway or Panera Bread.
 
They really need to stop drawing attention to themselves with stunts like this and “gay pride” events. Could you imagine the outrage if a “straight pride” event was held?
 
We are talking about one San Francisco BK. This really isn’t much of a news story.
 
What happened to the days when corporations would just sell their products and not have to make every little thing into some silly marketing campaign?

Burger King, Chick Fill Eh (or whatever…we don’t have them, blessedly, where I live), and all these other corporations are using tremendously important political issues in order to market themselves to consumers.

“Oh, I don’t have to feel bad about supporting this evil, giant corporation’s destruction of our nation’s health because they SUPPORT! gay marriage!” And vice versa for the chicken restaurant.

Sorry for the rant, I’m just so sick of this.
 
Several months ago, we were out of town and saw a Burger King with a marquee that said, “Try our new fries. More flavor, less calories.” Unfortunately, someone had taken the comma and scooted the words together, so the sign said “Try our new fries. More flavorless calories.” 😃 I certainly don’t need to consume flavorless calories wrapped in a rainbow flag. Think I’ll skip BK and opt for something a bit more flavorful.
 
Indeed, we’re all the same inside. Gays are human beings too.
 
What sense does it make to punish the employees of a burger king in Ft Collins Colorado because the owner of the burger king in San Francisco did something stupid

haha! I like that story. I’ll have to remember that next time I get a craving for fast food.
 
Really? Even though I haven’t been there in years, I am very suprised that they have the audacity to pull off something like that.

None.

Unless you are unable to grasp the concept of franchises and individual ownership. Although I can see how it would give those who are a misguided sense of standing up for their principles, even if it does nothing but hurt innocent people who have nothing to do with a BK across the country from them.

Right. This isn’t a company-wide promotion. It’s just what one franchise owner decided to do.

I know I won’t be eating at Burger King in the future. But it’s only because I never eat at Burger King. 😛 I think I ate there once as a child. 🤷
