I couldn’t believe it when I read such a positive take on Archbishop Burke in the Post (I honestly didn’t think it was possible:) ). It was a very good and encouraging article.

God bless Archbishop Burke. I always said that there a direct correlation in the decline of vocations to the priesthood and religious life , because the priests/nuns/brothers have distanced themselves from the general community. We had nuns and priests from my class because they were always around with the kids, encouraging, forming their faith and getting involved in the lives of the young people in positive ways. That’s not the case where I live nowadays. That’s not to say things could change, like the effort going on in St.Louis.

This is just an opinion from his home diocese. I think it is because he is not afraid to be Catholic. In a very loving way he challenges us. He makes us better and stronger. So many seem to be afraid of standing up to the secular world. People naturally gravtitate to this loving strength.
