We read in Australia’s “The Age”:

…’‘I call them the Vatican’t,’’ said O’Connor, who is in Australia to perform just once, at this Saturday’s Melbourne Festival closing concert Seven Songs to Leave Behind. ‘‘It’s a nest of devils that’s run by people with no respect for God or children or the rest of us.’’

The Pope and the top tier of the church should step down immediately, she said. ‘‘And after they step down they should present themselves at their local police stations and ask to be prosecuted.’’ After that, she said, ‘‘we should burn the f—ing Vatican to the ground, frankly, and I know if Jesus was here that’s exactly what would be happening’’.

Naturally, Ms O’Connor, being an ordained priest(ess) (covered elsewhere in the article), is one of the world’s foremost authorities on Catholicism and so her views have immediate relevance.

Actually, she`s already given one performance: a very-spoilt-little-girl tantrum.
Her language smacks of the gutter, rather than of the angels.

Shes dead right about that! Just as the mob demanded our Lords death the first time around, it would demand the same thing again, along with the added destruction of His Mystical Body. What better way to symbolise that than by burning the Vatican to the ground?

And naturally, being a blatantly anti-Catholic publication, so is “The Age”.

Yes, and as a professional entertainer, her insights into this complex subject are especially valuable.

The only problem I have with burning the Vatican is that the works of art and of architecture, and other items of historical interest, would be destroyed when they could be sold and the money given to the Vatican’s countless victims.

Besides, think of how much carbon dioxide would be released.

Mother Bernadette Mary, the singer formerly known as Sinead O’Connor.

She’s just trying to keep her name alive in the media.

She had another tirade against the church recently, that coincided with the release of her CD.

She’s a washed up, mediocre entertainer that is just trying to keep her name alive to promote her “concerts”, and CD sales.

For her, any publicity, good or bad, just keeps her name alive.

Did she come out of Ireland? … because there have been some very unhealthy dispositions in faith among some Irish priests and religious institutions that were not compliant – or unable – to be open to correction and renewal by Vatican II.

While not the devil incarnate, this woman is his service and doing his bidding. I do not know what she got in exchange for her soul, but she sold cheap.

I thought her 15 min. of fame were up?

Marketing stunt.

I lost respect for her at the time she ripped up pictures of JP2. Clueless woman.

Sinead is a very disturbed woman who transfers the guilt from her own sins to the Catholic Church. She is not rational. It seems that bad haircuts might not only serve to sap strength, but intelligence as well. Rob

Another sinner in need of the Church. Father forgive her and us for our blindness.

I heard she gave the devil her hair.

Sinead…what do you know about Jesus? That’s right, nothing

Yep, that would be a TAD reckless, wouldn’t it?👍

I love THE SCHOOL OF ATHENS by Raphael. Would hate to see that go up in a fiery inferno.

Not to mention The Sistine Chapel and all of its beauties.

I wonder what she wants Catholicism to be replaced with?

I guess HER brand of Goddess-Centered Neo-Wiccan/Neo-Pagan Mishmash Idea of what a religion should be.👍

I do agree she is a very disturbed, tormented woman that has transferred her demons into the image of the Church. Sad. I will pray for her.

who cares what this bald-headed nut case says. she’s a nobody.

I’d agree she is very troubled, has been afflicted by those causing damage to the Catholic Church in Ireland…our former pastor from there showed us the scars on his hands by a religious order of brothers…I am Welsh-Irish, went to parochial school, and the nuns very mean to us.

My father preferred we attend the nearby Italian mission church. In time the pastor invited them to talk to the parents because of our treatment. The school eventually closed down. I met some sisters from there years later and they seemed to react to the name of the former principal. Then last summer at a retreat held here in town by a former member of the convent, she was telling us how the sisters weren’t even allowed to look at each other inside the convent. Vatican II was also about correcting abuses —and backwardness if you want to call it that, – in religious congregations.

There is a great need for healing in Ireland among the Catholic faithful. But the Irish have given so much to the American church, that I finally heard last summer that the American Church is essentially Irish. But here you can’t blame it on the ethnicity, but more on the type of individuals that were accepted by ecclesiastics and their advisors.

he’s a fellow human being. In that respect even though she is utterly wrong in what she says i care what she has to say.
well in that case, you must not get much sleep at night with all your concern. there are publicized many comments daily through media outlets which say awful things about the church. she’s a nobody now. i care about what she has to say about as much as i do the lead singer of fine young cannibals.

I would not go so far as saying she is a “bald-headed nut case,” but I agree her viewpoints are overemphasized in certain sections of the media.

Let’s pray for her that she will find peace and true discernent.:o
