Burning Out...

My pre-student teaching field experience is just burning me out. I stress about every last little thing, and then those little things fall through the cracks.
My spiritual life has taken a nose dive during all of this, and that seems to be exaserbating the whole situation. I cannot keep things together, I forget things, I overlook things… everything is just falling apart. And lets not forget the papers that are due at the end of the week. I don’t know where I am going to find any time between right this second and the 7th. I had wanted to take a soft day on my birthday (6 Dec), but it looks like I am not going to be able to.

A Spiritual Exercise

Make two lists. First, select the activities that are less important than Jesus Christ. Place them on one list. Then, select the activities that are more important than Jesus Christ and place them on the other list. Which list is more easily accomplished? Take that empty list with you and spend an hour adoring your Savior. Don’t say a word. You need not ask for anything, since He already knows. Relax and be comforted in His Divine presence. Your body needs sleep to be refreshed. You spirit needs refreshing, as well.

When you are immersed in the world and overloaded to the breaking point, turn to Him, as he will never give you more than you can bear. In Him is your strength.

Merciful and loving God, You conceived of PAL from all eternity as an irreplaceable part of Your divine plan. Graciously breathe Your Holy Spirit upon her that she may be renewed in spirit, reinvigorated with hope, and re-energized to face the realities of life. Grant her a fresh outlook and a palpable presence of Your love, that she may rest in Your Heavenly embrace. I ask this through Christ, our Lord, Who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, One God for ever and ever. Amen.
