This man is a good man. This bus company is not a good bus company – they were kind to the man, but they still offend God by putting up such advertising.
They try to disclaim responsibility for the content of their advertising. That does not fly. You are responsible for the content of what you put on your busses, you get to choose which advertisements you accept and reject.
Prayers and kudos to this upstanding man!![]()
** Shin**.I think you are wrong here. Jesus said:
Matthew 10:32-33
** 32Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. **
** 33But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.**
If I were that man, I also would refuse to drive those buses. Better to lose some money than to lose my soul.
Matthew 16:26
**For what is a ****man ****profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or ****what shall a **man give in exchange for his soul?
Sincerely,
De Maria

I agree with the above posts. But focusing away from the driver to the actual message for a moment, I think it begins to become more interesting. The advert is by an atheist organization, but the message is an agnostic one! The atheists believe that there is no God. The advert says “There’s probably no God”! That is an odd message from an atheist. Aren’t they sure then? If they aren’t sure, aren’t they taking a bit of a risk, saying “Stop worrying, and enjoy life”? I would want to be pretty darn sure, before taking such an advice!for that bus driver.
I’m just saying, the ad does not specify, does it? Enjoying life without God can be defined many different ways by different people. That’s all.If you honestly think that an ad that reads “enjoy your life” is in any way endorsing murder, then that says a lot more about you than it does about any “philosophy.”
Enjoying your life with God can be defined in many ways, too – witness the polygamist sects, wild religious cults, and people who’ve committed murder in the name of their religion.I’m just saying, the ad does not specify, does it? As an atheist, I can tell you that under the definitions used by most modern atheists, atheism and agnosticism are compatible. Why do you think they have expressed their message in that way? Do you think they were afraid of something?
And what do you think that says about atheism vs. agnosticism? Do you think they are basically the same thing?
What are your thoughts?
zerinus, “there is no God” is an unprovable statement. To get around the fact that you can’t prove a negative, they used the word probably. Why do you think they have expressed their message in that way? Do you think they were afraid of something?

Thereby denying God.Again, though, this ad doesn’t specify any god - it’s denying the entire concept of deity.
Not only that, but in driving the message throughout the town, in spreading an anti-Christian message. He would involuntarily be spreading a message against his faith. Essentially becoming a pawn of Satan.I guess the bus driver could be worried that by driving the bus, he could be held as holding the opinion of the ad,
I can’t argue with personal opinion. I am however of the opposite opinion. I believe the person who would submit to spreading this advertisement is going against the teaching of the Catholic Church. We have very recently been warned that we aren’t just Christians in Church. We must uphold our faith in every aspect of our lives.but me personally, I’d call that excess scrupulosity.
So you think that an ad that endorses atheism is somehow endorsing our faith in Christ? Or what are you talking about? If you honestly think that an ad that reads “enjoy your life” is in any way endorsing murder, then that says a lot more about you than it does about any “philosophy.”
Is this in any way related to an ad that says that God probably does not exist? How?Enjoying your life with God can be defined in many ways, too – witness the polygamist sects, wild religious cults, and people who’ve committed murder in the name of their religion.
I think it’s fair to say that the phrase presumes that an individual “enjoying” life will be sane and law-abiding. I mean, when I say, “have a nice day,” I certainly don’t intend the other party to go out and kill – nor do I approve of it – regarless of how “nice day” can be defined.
I was responding to AnthonyM2’s assertion that murder would be “fine” with this ad’s philosophy (presumably he means atheism). Is this in any way related to an ad that says that God probably does not exist? How?
No, you do not. Atheism isn’t a position of faith. It is a lack of belief based on the lack of evidence for any god (including yours). To deny God, don’t you have to have first Faith? A knowledge of the Truth?
I don’t see the irony which you presume is there.Well, that wasn’t very nice of the bus driver… they’re just atheists.
Ironically Yours, Blade and Blood
To tap into the doubts of believers and into the agnostic segment of the population.I agree with the above posts. Backlash. They know they can’t prove the absolute statement that God doesn’t exist.Do you think they were afraid of something?
Yes.And what do you think that says about atheism vs. agnosticism? Do you think they are basically the same thing?
The ad is against our faith whether it is an absolute statement or a statement of probablity. Therefore we should not uphold it in any way shape or form. What are your thoughts?
Sincerely,Let your dollars do the talking and soon those ads will disappear all together.
Hi, I was an atheist for many years myself. I know what an atheist is.No, you do not. Atheism isn’t a position of faith. It is a lack of belief based on the lack of evidence for any god (including yours).
Yes, I understand this view, as I had it once.I find there is insufficient evidence to justify a belief in any god – I don’t claim to know this or to have faith in this. It’s exactly the same as my perception that there is insufficient evidence to justify a belief in the Hindu gods or Bigfoot.
You speak for all the people? We use the pound in the UK.
If christians are allowed to advertise, atheists can too. When people look at an ad on the side of a bus, they don’t immediately think of the bus driver.
Well I don’t know how different the culture is across the pond, but when I see an ad for a new chanel fragrance, I don’t automatically wonder if the bus driver wears it, and I highly doubt most people would. You speak for all the people?
Do you automatically assume that the driver of a bus has anything at all to do with what ads are on the bus? If so, why do you do that? The ads are sold and placed by people working for the bus company who are specifically hired to do that job. Bus drivers are hired to drive the buses. Holding a bus driver responsible for what is on the bus he’s driving that day is beyond irrational. You speak for all the people?
But that is your own personal and unsupported opinion. Thanks.Well I don’t know how different the culture is across the pond, but when I see an ad for a new chanel fragrance, I don’t automatically wonder if the bus driver wears it, and I highly doubt most people would.
