Bush signs increase to Planned Parenthood funding

Brad,

Let us just say that I have the blinders off and you still have them on (no insult intended). You continue to believe the garbage the GOP spews, whereas I have painfully realized they are no better then the dems. The truth is, the GOP uses the prolife issues to get elected, and then once they are in they continue to talk a great game, but they do nothing real to advance the cause of life. Frankly, as much as I do not want Hillary, I cannot see any difference–for life issues_-between her and Bush.

My issue is first with Bush, he could have done a lot more, and now he increases funding to baby killers. He could have saved Terri, but chickened out before anything real was done to save her. Likewise, with the seven GOP traitors in the Senate, we have little chance of advancing anything real regarding life issues. After all, didn’t you know that Social Security, the war in Iraq and taxes is far more important then the lives of 1.5 million babies? Babies don’t count as much as money.

I thought abortion was going to go away if we voted for George Bush. I thought that was the reason it was a mortal sin to vote for John Kerry.

Brad,

Here is my central and most major point:

During the time it takes me to form my thoughts to write this message, and then actually type and send this message, ONE MORE BABY WILL HAVE DIED.

All this talk and no action just leads to more dead babies! All this hand wringing over what Bush and the Senate and the SC should do just leads to more babies dead. Roughly every 20 seconds we lose another person–EVERY 20 SECONDS!

We need to stop talking and start saving the babies.

norbert,

Exactly…you got the point. It was supposed to be a mortal sin to vote for Kerry, yet here we are with no hope that abortion will even be slowed by Bush or anyne in the GOP.

We go ROUND AND ROUND ABOUT THIS!!!

For the LAST TIME:

NO POLITICIAN BUT A DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN WILL PUT AN END TO ABORTION LEGISLATIVELY.

jlw,

No politician other than a dem or repub because people do not step out in faith and do the right thing!

We need uncompromising leaders. We will never see the end of abortion so long as these games are played by our leaders. Bush knows full well that he is authorizing abortions by increasing funding to PP…yet he did it anyway. We will not get anywhere until “we” prolifers take an unmovable stance that abortion is the murder of babies and that we just flat out won’t accept words…we will only accept actions.
I agree.
As long as the Republicans can keep enough voters believing they should vote for the lesser of two evils, we will not see progress. They don’t have to - all they have to do is save just a few babies more than the Dems. And actually, from a political power standpoint, the smaller the difference, the more votes they get. The “lesser of two evil voters” remain guaranteed, so they can move closer to the Dems to pick off a few who are not completely comfortable with the Dems.

Chris,

Exactly! The GOP gives prolifers just enough to keep them voting for the GOP. It is obvious, if the GOP ends abortion, then they lose the prolifers (or so they think)…which means they are likely not motivated to do what is morally right.

So, AGAIN, given the choice between
1.a heavily financially backed pro-abort,
2.a heavily backed “only to save life of the mother”,
3.a heavily backed “only PBA ban”
4.or an obscure nice fella whose time on the radar is minimal (like the media wants this guy!), but is staunchly pro-life,

WHO WILL ADVANCE THE PRO-LIFE CAUSE MOST EFFECTIVLY IN D.C.???

How? And are you willing to take even greater setbacks if Hillary is elected in 2008, while we mobilize every catholic. Let’s assume that we can get half the catholics in the nation to all vote for a real pro-life rep by 2012. Who do you think will be in power? Is it possible? Yes, all things are possible with God. Do we have the faith and charity to make it happen? That is the question.

And to add to this, if Stevens or O’connor don’t step down this term, they most certainly will between ’ 08 and '12!! Who do you want in the WH then?? Hillary?? Good Lord!

jle,

Let’s take your points one at a time:

1.a heavily financially backed pro-abort,

==> This person would do nothing for prolife causes.

2.a heavily backed “only to save life of the mother”,

==> People in this group have already proved they will do nothing real about prolife causes.

3.a heavily backed “only PBA ban”

==> People in this group have already proved they will do nothing real about prolife causes.

4.or an obscure nice fella whose time on the radar is minimal (like the media wants this guy!), but is staunchly pro-life,

==> People in this group would not be expected to be “nice fellas.” They would be expected to be 100% prolife. If Catholics stood behind such a person, he/she would be elected. That is why this is a question of a lack of faith. IMO, Catholics need to vote for 100% prolife candidates and leave the rest in the hands of hte Holy Spirit, if we do that, abortion will end. If we do not, then we will just get many, many more years of watching babies die. I firmly believe God is waiting for us to be truly faithful and He will bless and honor that faithfulness.

yochumjy,

If putting up with Hillary is our cost to end abortion, then bring it on today. I firmly believe that we will not see the end of abortion until the people of this nation truly want it to end. Right now we have a ton of people who really are not willing to take a firm stance, we all sorts of people standing on very unfirm ground, bending and twisting in the winds.

jlw,

What you are not seeing is that the repubs have total control right now and they have effectively done nothing to advance the cause of life…there have been just as many babies saved in this country as there would be under Clinton–zero! The bottom line is the repubs have sold us a bill of goods, and now they want to sell us the Brooklyn Bridge. I ain’t buyin.
All the wailing and nashing of teeth about how terrible Kerry would have been for the prolife cause…yet here we are and nothing is being done anyway.

In 08 or 12 it is not likely that the repubs will control congress as they do today…everything goes in cycles…they have likely lost this truly golden opportunity that we gave to them. They have ignored their clear mandate from “we the people.” It is time to kick them out of office, every last one of them, including the dems.

We need to vote in people who actually care about “we the people.” The work for us, we do NOT work for them.

BTW, in the time it took me to write these messages, another 4 babies has been murdered. Let’s just keep talking. 😦

Today, in Washington, while babies were being murdered across the land, the House approved a bill banning flag burning. You see, a piece of cloth is more important then 1.5 million babies murdered every year.

I appreciate your love of life, truly. But your just typing too. I asked you how, and you don’t know, apparently, or you would be doing it. So, instead of just saying we need to do something, maybe something should be done. Now the $1M question…what? You are advocating action, well, what action?

What percentage of the US are catholics? I guarentee it isn’t 50%. What we need is a change of heart of American’s, and that isn’t going to happen by us just voting 100% pro-life. We need more, we need to be able to bridge the gap between those who don’t understand the gulf between them and Christ. I’m getting a little off topic here, but there is a group called “Intercessors of the Lamb” I’m in a small group doing the first book for this… See at:
bellwetheromaha.org/Charism.htm

There are some cloistured type groups, but there are also regular working type people involved. Check it out. I don’t think this is the only way, but I’m wondering if it couldn’t be powerful enough to help…
