=GuerreroDeAmor;8123650]PJM,
Just want to point out something…
WATCHTOWER is actually the magazine of the Jehovah’s Witnesses. As far as I know, Mormons aren’t known to handout magazines to non-mormons…just the Book of Mormon. But yes, Mormons do believe that we can all become gods ruling other planets in the hereafter. And yes, Mormonism is a pyramid-scheming cult.
Thank you and have a nice day,
Guerrero.
SINCERE THANKS for covering my senior moment:D

God Bless you,
Pat

That cannot be correct. Roman Catholicism is not part of the Orthodox groups, in fact to the contraray, they were the very group that started changing many things from the original faith and introducing many unBiblical teachnings.

Catholics converting to Mormons is something all Catholics should be concerned about (and Christian in general as well). Currently Catholic answers are launching a Mormonism Project in response to the number of Catholics converting to Mormonism, catholic.com/projects/mormonism.asp. I encourage everyone to check it out.

Mother Teresa talked about loneliness being a serious disease. In her book 'A Simple Path" she touched on loneliness being a serious disease in the American culture. In her book she talked about how people in poorer nations often times are less lonely. The American culture is centered on the individual; but people need people.
My sister is a Mormon Convert. I saw in my sister a need that the Mormon Church filled (this as well as lacking the basic knowledge of why we believe what we believe). It seems to me that the Mormon Church has very successfully capitalized on a cultural deficit we face. The Catholic Church around the world is still larger and in more counties than the Mormon Church. Catholic Answers had a good article called the 'Distinctive Beliefs of the Mormon Church" the article talked about Mormonism made in America.

One thing I have really noticed about the Mormon Church is the fellowship (it seems mandatory, not that that’s a bad thing). I’m certainly not saying the Catholic Church doesn’t have fellowship, because we do. It’s just in some way very different. I don’t want to demean the Mormons by comparing them to Fraternities or Sororities, but I’m really lacking a better example in my own thought right now to explain the cultural phenomenon I have witnessed. It seems the Mormons are very inclusive when it comes to other Mormons and those who want to become Mormon. The Catholic Church being the true church of Christ seeks to include everyone, sinners, and strangers.
I was speaking with a long time RCIA instructor and lay apologist at my parish. He has seen many Catholics come and go over the years. According to this man in his experience the Mormon Churches “nice factor” is precisely what attracts Catholics. Certainly being “nice” doesn’t give legitimacy to a religion, but it really seems to be persuasive. This “niceness”, along with a lack of knowing why we believe what we believe can be a reason so many Catholics are being led astray.
To the original post, I hope you do come home to the Catholic Church. It is an invitation to all to come join in the fullness of the faith that Jesus, himself, established for us all. Also, don’t forget to check out, catholic.com/projects/mormonism.asp.

A wonderful instruction from Our Lord, Jesus!

I have been raised Protestant, but I am gratefully exploring Catholicism. (I may find that it is my home). But, one thing I notice on these forums is that the Catholic answer to just about everything satisfies my soul except for its response to Mormonism. It seems Catholics just don’t know what to DO with Mormons. I’ve also heard statistics (I believe from articles on this website) that many Catholics are converting to Mormonism.

Before we get started, please note that I am not looking for “intellectual” or “historical” reasons why Mormonism is “wrong.” Two can play at that game and I do not have the mental patience at this time to sift through those “reasons.”

Right now, I would like to focus on the intriguing phenomenon of just how NICE Mormons are! Don’t pretend you don’t know what I’m talking about. If you have any doubts, just google “Why are Christians so…” and see what the assumptions are. Do the same with Mormonism. Under “Why are Christians so…” the assumptions are “hypocritical,” “miserable,” “mean,” “arrogant,” and many other nasty words. Under “Why are Mormons so…” the assumptions are “nice,” “friendly,” “happy,” “peaceful.” I’ve also noticed that Mormons are much better than Catholics in practice of having kids!

In my home congregation, most conversion stories I hear are of people “noticing something” in the lives of Christians that is very mystical. They reckon they want a piece of it, and then joyously discover Christ. However, you begin to see my point that Mormons seem to have this “something” much more consistently then classical Christianity.

I consider myself an orthodox Christian, let’s just get that out of the way first. But, I am also trying to be honest here. Someone please give me a good explanation for the lack of practical application among Christians and the incredible “performance” (for lack of a better word) of Mormons.

thanks in advance (I generally like this forum and appreciate it, thanks)
I have many Mormon friends and believe me when I tell you, they got their problems too. All religions take their members from the human race and in many ways, humans are flawed, some more than others. Some have more problems, others are better at hidings their problems but we all have problems and we all have our own flaws. I have had LSD friends, over the years ask me, how I’ve manage to stay happily married for so many years. I’ve had Mormon friends who want to know how my kids turned out so well and I’m Catholic. The grass is always greener on the other side. However, in my own experience, I have met way more friendly Catholics in my life, than any other denomination. Then again there are way more Catholics and I’m a Catholic. Usually, when someone is complaining about how a Catholic is acting, they are usually talking about a non-observant or former Catholic.
