You haven’t read the apologetics of Saint John Damascene He was involved with the 7th Ecumenical Council, which dealt with iconography.

Do not forget we were made in the image of God - in the Koine Greek the word is eikon, from which we get the word icon. Christ, the Incarnate Word, is the literal image of God. Christ became man so that man might become God, not by nature but by imitation (ie. godly). Christ purified that tarnished flesh. During the Orthodox liturgy there’s a fine moment that visualizes all this, where the priest comes out and censes the icon of Christ (the image of God) then turns and censes the congregation (the images of God).

Do not be too steadfast against ANY imagery, however. Do not forget that even though God commanded no graven image, the Ark which He ordered constructed had statues of angels - in other words, images of heavenly things. These were not graven images, but they are an example of iconography and imagery in early worship.

For us the cross is the message of salvation. I would like to ask you, don’t you want salvation? Especially the salvation of your soul?

Granted you may not agree with our belief, but don’t you want salvation?

I am not much on continuous dialogue – I don’t have that much time in front of the computer and the internet. But if you answer the question I am sure some of my brother Christians will take it up.

So how about it? Don’t you want salvation?

p/s As Christians, we know the One who especially loathes and hates the cross. But I guess that’s another subject.

BTW, it is not an image of Jesus carrying the cross. The picture is take from a movie scene depicting an actor carrying a wooden cross set up in the Roman era. But if it helps to remind you the suffering and the pain that Jesus went through as he carried the cross, then it may serve its purpose.

Do you want to know why Jesus went through the pain and the suffering? These are all in the Bible. Glad that you show good interest in the Bible.

I cited reference to relevant moments in the Old Testament that dealt with this subject, and explained its context in the original languages and the Church’s understanding. I have a feeling that any opinion given is going to be ignored and rejected outright without any real demonstration of why it should.

In any case, if you want to know information on a passage’s number and what it says, the internet is a wonderful thing.

Man made stories, interesting. We already know this by muslims calling our Bible man made stories.

Well, here is a newsflash for you. The koran is nothing but a “one man” your self made, self proclaimed prophet mohamad - made stories fooling everyone by telling them it is God’s word.

He incorporated a bunch on crazy stories in the koran about the Christians and the Jews and bammmmmm- we have the koran.
