Then explain the concept of “Theosis”, or, better yet, point me to the one who introduced it and let me read what he has to say.
Theosis is the process by which humans become united to God. It’s found in Scripture, and espoused among the earliest Church Fathers, both East and West. I haven’t read it, but this explanation should be a good introduction: antiochian.org/content/theosis-partaking-divine-nature“Through grace the Spirit eliminates the distance between our “I” and His “I,” creating between us and the Father, through grace, the same relation He has by nature with the Father and the Son” (Staniloae, 1994, The experience of God: Revelation and knowledge of the Triune God, p. 248).
I think it’s in this process of partaking of the Divinity that we (and EC’s, I’d imagine) tend to place purification.
