CAF women: Do/would you run your clothing choices by your husband?

I saw that, I also saw that the general reaction on CAF was “What is the Pope talking about, it’s only those crazy eeeevil Muslims who do that”. And actually, most of the people having that reaction weren’t even “traditional” Catholics.

But I do agree with you, that the problem with fundamentalism in Christianity, is that those who practice it are actually idolizing being “correct” over Christ Himself.

Also, while I actually find the EF Mass to be fascinating, I certainly wouldn’t feel comfortable attending one as a non-Catholic, though I’m sure not all who attend are “mad-trads” who have the attitude that “People who attend the EF are better Catholics” who’d never miss Mass, never divorce, never use even NFP, except for perhaps a truly life or death situation, etc.,

That’s what I meant by “hostile”.

I tried the EF Mass and found it confusing. Even my dh, who was raised with the traditional Mass got completely lost even though we were following along in the missal. Some of the traditionalists do love ceremony, but they get something from it, so that’s all right. No one should feel superior to any other Catholic because of their spiritual preferences. Indeed, the Church has many different spiritualities, most represented by a religious order, none of whom feel superior to any other, nor should they.

As for never missing Mass, etc., all Catholics are supposed to align themselves to Church teachings and disciplines. If we fail through human weakness we have recourse to confession, but of course no one should have the attitude that they can sin as much as they like and then go to confession. On the contrary, confession is meant to aid us by giving us the grace not to sin–as least not mortally.

G. K. Chesterton, himself a convert to Catholicism, once wrote: “Christianity has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and not tried.” And true Christianity isn’t a matter of personal perferences or the current modes and fashions of the day, but of faithfulness to Christ and his teachings, yes? It is the grace of God that allows us to love him and do his will, not our own desires or efforts. Humanly speaking, keeping the faith is just about impossible but if we avail ourselves of God’s grace, nothing is impossible.

So on the 75th post I finally get a poster who says “yes” to this question. Very interesting.

I believe it was post 3 where someone said yes. You also asked if wives should defer to their husband’s opinions, and I think many of us answered that question, too.

I never express an opinion about any of my wife’s and daughters’ clothing choices, unless asked, or unless a particular garment strikes me as really stunning. All compliments, no comments otherwise.
Now, I DO have strong opinions about hair choices. lol My wife listens to me, and my daughters do not! lol

My husband approves almost all my clothing - and yes, it’s skirts/dresses (and long- to longish, too). I never have even my elbows exposed, nor are my feet in sandals without socks. I wear a veil to Mass. My hair is long.

I’m happy (and very modest); he’s happy (and equally modest).
