Bishop Fred Henry, Calgary’s outspoken leading Catholic authority for 19 years, has resigned from the Calgary Catholic Diocese due to a severely debilitating case of arthritis.

Thank you for your service and steadfast Orthodoxy. I will miss you! I pray that your Predecessor will continue to be a bulwark against the hetrodoxy of our time!

Peace!👍

Wow! Sorry to hear that. Bishop Henry has been a beacon of orthodoxy in the last several years, even when that made him unpopular with many. I usually looked up what was going on in your diocese when I was looking to see how new things were being implemented.

He appeared on my radar with his commentary of Pierre Trudeau’s funeral.

Yeah, he didn’t mince a lot of words and told it how he saw it!👍

Bishop Henry, while not perfect, has been a fearless critic of immoral principles, to the point of getting into trouble.

He has no need to worry whether or not he did a good job. Given the abhorrent way the press here covered his resignation, and being called “out of step with Albertans”, he should wear that as a badge of honour. The surest way to know you’re on the correct side is to just gauge how much the world hates you.

Good job, Excellency.

(The press could not resist lumping in “LGBTQ” when reporting on his resignation).

Yes Exactly, When starting this thread I was a bit dismayed at having to link to the CH article especially considering the Journalist who wrote the piece. Then I thought I might as well display the liberal agenda at work in our beloved province.

Cheers!👍

Thanks Dan, I have been trying to get on the Diocesan website but keeps timeing out on me. Not sure what is wrong there.
