Ah, but while Jesus never pronounced on homosexuality, he did condemn divorce. I have to follow Jesus on this one!👍

StAnastasia
He did not condemn civil divorce in each case. He did condem homosexual acts and all sins. He said heaven and earth will pass away before one letter of the law passes away.

This is from the CCC:

2383 The *separation *of spouses while maintaining the marriage bond can be legitimate in certain cases provided for by canon law.177
If civil divorce remains the only possible way of ensuring certain legal rights, the care of the children, or the protection of inheritance, it can be tolerated and does not constitute a moral offense.

Just so we can be clear on what the Church teaches:
If it is true that all Catholics are obliged to oppose the legal recognition of homosexual unions, Catholic politicians are obliged to do so in a particular way, in keeping with their responsibility as politicians. Faced with legislative proposals in favour of homosexual unions, Catholic politicians are to take account of the following ethical indications.
When legislation in favour of the recognition of homosexual unions is proposed for the first time in a legislative assembly, the Catholic law-maker has a moral duty to express his opposition clearly and publicly and to vote against it. To vote in favour of a law so harmful to the common good is gravely immoral…

Sorry, but I’m going to follow Jesus on this one; post-divorce fornication is out.

Civil divorce is only permitted for the sake of the children and the other items quoted above. It does not mean you can take another wife/husband. You are still married in the eyes of God.

Jesus speaks through His Church. Fornication is wrong, period. I am not defending civil divorce and remarriage without a decree of nullity. I am saying there is a limited place for civil divorce. There is no place for homosexual unions.

But the church in many dioceses either welcomes divorced and remarried Catholics to the communion table, or turns a blind eye to the fact that they are carrying on sexually as if nothing had happened, as if they are not now bigamists in the eyes of God.

That should be corrected. That it happens is no reason to provide cover for homosexual unions.

The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgendered community is already looking Beyond Gay Marriage:

They still want the Hippie have sex with anybody idea. You’ll note that so-called Feminist Icon Gloria Steinem is among the signers.

Peace,

Everywhere you will find misguided pastoral advice. It is wrong and is not what the Church teaches. Pastors and Bishops who allow it are disobedient.

Only a Decree of Nullity is valid.

😦 StAnastasia, you are enjoying this debate too much and you are too stubborn and unbending to be serious.

I do not believe you are truly a Catholic if you condon homosexual relations as completely as you say you do. You are attempting to derail the debate by focusing on divorced Catholics.

There is no greater evil than a homosexual lifestyle and/or relationship. It is condemned in Scripture, as you should know if you are a Catholic.

:highprayer:

You are an expert at distraction –

Yes, I will agree that the murder of six million Jewish people in the Holocast was a very great evil; as is the murder of millions of unborn babies by the abomination of abortion.

But, the homosexual life style and/or relationships are right at the top of the list.

😦 :amen:
