That is the crucial battle that we’re not being allowed to think of let alone fight it. We can speak right vs left later, that’s middle America, but today it’s the elite vs most of us. Pay attention to how the media goes along with intentionally keeping us divided and split against each other while they and their acolytes rake in the bucks and retain their power over us.
“Divide and conquer” has always worked in the past. Why not today? The crowds are easily manipulated by emotional rhetoric.

I’m female, but OK.

And if you really think that non-support from the Bush dynasty is tantamount to rapid populism, you’ve got another thing coming. https://www.theamericanconservative.com/dreher/trump-elitism-populism/
To your first point regarding the term “dude”. A few years back, all the middle=school girls referred to each other as “dude”. Given your objection to my use of the term, I have to assume that you are past that age and will have to refrain. (this is just my feeble attempt at humour)

Secondly, the article you point to was written five years ago, when the Bushe’s were still hoping to extend their dynastic rule. Trump destroyed that dream soon after that, but I read that article within the context of that debate.

Thirdly, thank you for introducing me to Rod Draher and the American Conservative. I will have to spend some time with both. It is never too late to learn.

This is the most relevant part of your post, so I’ll focus on it.

Context is good, but precisely what has changed in 5 years? Trump suddenly jettisoned his wealth and upbringing and became Man of the People?

I am not sure why Trump has to give up his wealth to run for office. Do you demand that of every politician? Or are we suppose to keep on pretending that the left-wing politicians are not rich? Where do they get a billion dollars to win an election?

Actually, it is his personal wealth that allows him to win elections without taking bribes from large corporations (a paradox) and remain somewhat independent of big pharma and friends.
As for the rest, I like what Anne has to say on the subject:

My college freshman daughter uses ‘dude’ and ‘bro’ for both males and females. That would put her as a middle school girl a few years back. 😁

Seriously, @Adamek ? Where did I say that? Please respond to points that I actually make. I called him an elitist. Your responded that he wasn’t, and I rebutted your claim with an article . . . and by pointing out that the 5-year-old age of the article is irrelevant.

This is where you said that. “Trump suddently jettisoned his wealth…and became Man of the People”.
The change that you expected was that he would give up his wealth.

Nope. I’m just pointing out to you that he’s still a billionaire elitist. Nothing changed in the 5 years since the article was written.
