Call for pope to step down over Holocaust denier

A pope cannot be “impeached,” so the answer to the question is no.

And that article is silly.

As far as I am concerned, that liberal theologian can liberally apply glue to his mouth and shut it. It has been the liberal theologians who have helped to allow so many modernist errors to enter the church and corrupt the flock.

Anyway, the pope cannot be impeached. He can step down if he so choose, but he wouldn’t. As far as I am concerned he is doing a great job. Further, his lifting of the excommunication has nothing to do with condoning Bishop Williamson’s views, but it is his attempt at reunifying the Church. His primary concern is the Church and our souls not every one’s opinion. Besides, Bishop Williams was also reprimanded by Bishop Fellay and it has been stated that Bishop Williamson’s personal views are not that of the Church. I don’t think it is anybodies place to really question the Holy Father right now. He has a larger plan in the works.

Pax.

It is time we expunge theses so-called Catholics from and influence in the Church.

As for Williamson, I think addition sanctions are needed. However, what I have read and have had first hand experience with those under his influence, I have a feeling he may not be in the fold for much longer.

This is absurd. Someone needs to be made an example of.

If only we could resurrect Torquemada. He’d sort out these fools who are publicly agitating against the Pope. 👍

LOL! You caught me off guard with that comment. It was so off the wall…LOL!😛

The press has the idea that everything is political, even the Church, which they do not understand, and do (at a minimum) dislike. They are just so full of it as a result.

How soon, one wonders, before these scribblers treat us to the quotes of such luminaries as Matthew Fox and Hans Kung on this issue?

There’s a bunch of anti-Catholics out there who have nothing of their own to offer, and can only get ink by attacking the Church and its leaders. And the press, interested in sales, gives ink to them. Shameful!

Blessings,

Gerry

‘“If the pope wants to do some good for the Church, he should leave his job,” eminent liberal Catholic theologian Hermann Haering told the German daily Tageszeitung.’

I realize Williamson is a kook but this is a pretty vitriolic attack on the pope.
Obviously one of the many liberal Catholics who had an absolute FIT when Benedict XVI became Pontiff.

The world came to SEE Pope John Paul the Great
The world comes to HEAR Benedict XVI.

If the world LIKED what it heard I would be worried.👍

Speaking of which, whatever happened to God’s Rottweiler?
That was never an accurate description of Father, then Bishop, then Archbishop, then Cardinal Ratzinger. That is still an inaccurate description of Pope Benedict. It was a term invented by his detractors and the media loves it because they hate the Catholic Church, just like “liberal” theologians.

William is a kook and Haering is to be ignored. What he hates is the idea of an reconciliation with these traditional Catholics who reject his concept of the Church, which is really, just secular with some bogus mysticism thrown in.

I think the Vatican made a strategic error by bringing Williamson and his sect back into the fold. That said, so what? Mistakes happen. Everyone knows that this Pope has stretched out his hand to the Jewish community. He’s been back to Germany, to Poland, to the camps. No one can rationally say that he harbors any anti-semitic views or excuses the Nazi regime. It’s time to give him a break.

That said, it has been very hard on the German community at large. Every Germany wants to disassociate themelves from the Holocaust and with good reason. German Catholics, in particular, don’t want to be seen as having one of their own religion making outlandish statements and then having them seemingly endorsed by the Vatican.

If it was anyone else, I might have doubts. But I have absolutely no doubt about this Pope and his commitment to the truth and solidarity with the Jewish community.

It is not Williamson’s sect. He is only one of four bishops, but the stink arises because there are so many liberals in the Church, and Benedict is exploding their dreams.

Full in the panting heart of Rome
Beneath the apostle’s crowning dome.
From pilgrim’s lips that kiss the ground,
Breathes in all tongues one only sound:

GOD BLESS OUR POPE, GOD BLESS OUR POPE,
GOD BLESS OUR POPE, THE GREAT THE GOOD!

The golden roof, the marble walls,
The Vatican’s majestic halls,
The note redoubles, till it fills
With echoes sweet the seven hills

GOD BLESS OUR POPE, GOD BLESS OUR POPE,
GOD BLESS OUR POPE, THE GREAT THE GOOD!

Then surging through each hallowed gate,
Where martyrs glory, in peace await
It sweeps beyond the solemn plain,
Peals over Alps, across the main.

GOD BLESS OUR POPE, GOD BLESS OUR POPE,
GOD BLESS OUR POPE, THE GREAT THE GOOD!

From torrid south to frozen north,
The wave harmonious stretches forth,
Yet strikes no chord more true to Rome’s,
Than rings within our hearts and homes.

GOD BLESS OUR POPE, GOD BLESS OUR POPE,
GOD BLESS OUR POPE, THE GREAT THE GOOD!
  • Cardinal Wiseman, Archbishop of Westminster

Call for pope to step down???
“step down” ?

As if the pope were only a TV news anchor, or an Avon saleswoman.

Is it just me, or does it seem to anyone else that simple statement, on its face, is the utterance of a psychotic ?

" Call for pope to step down "
"2+2=5 "
" Martian rabbits assassinated president Clinton in A.D.1748. "

I don’t understand the modern world. 😦

Because the modern world is suffering the ravages of Relativism, Liberalism, and Materialism and is on the verge of implosion from them

With all the attacks on the Pope, we can guarantee one thing. He is doing things right.

Right on:thumbsup:

This whole thing is just silly. It’s a big deal over everything that has to do with nothing.

Vienna’s cardinal and archbishop, Christoph Schoenborn, on Sunday lashed out at the decision to bring Williamson back into the fold, saying that “he who denies the Holocaust cannot be rehabilitated within the Church.”

This statement by Archbishop Schoenborn makes me sick. There is no sin so great in which we shouldn’t try to rehabilitate them. Especially since the authenticity of a historical event is hardly a matter of dogma.
