Yes…seems I forgot the whole “Kennedy factor” & how the citizens of the great state of MASS treated them like GODS! Thank God most of them are no longer here, & those who are, are not in the public limelight. THAT would have been the true American dynasty, had they all not died off, or been killed off.

Possibly it is…but it isn’t because I don’t love the Kennedy’s…I never loved their outlandish ways…especially Ted Kennedy getting away with murder.
Love them? Only in a Christian way, as required by Jesus…other than that…
Remember:
Love your brother, but do not love the world.

I know about that but when it comes down to Trump vs whoever I can’t vote for them (btw I don’t like ALL Democrats)
Hello! First of all, my sincere respect and admiration to you for being so guided by your faith and conscience that you feel the desire to explore this topic on the verge of your first voting exercise in Democracy. This alone sets you apart from about half the population (only ~53% of eligible voters do so).

I’ll share with you my own experience, which may be relevant; I own 2 homes in the US which are both located in California, an overwhelmingly Democratic state. Before I became a citizen, I didn’t know much about either party, and just then came the California gubernatorial elections; there was one Republican candidate and 3 democratic candidates; all of whom fell over themselves on TV ads stating how pro-abortion they were, and singularly calling-out the one Republican candidate (also Catholic) for being pro-life. That was it; none had really any platform to speak of; just a steady mantra of “protecting a woman’s right to choose” and singling out the one candidate who didn’t. Well, as you may have guessed, the sheeple of California elected one of the pro-abortion candidates, who was later recalled due to his gross negligence and ineptitude. It was at this point I became a citizen and was thus eligible to vote, at which time I said to myself “I will NEVER be a Democrat, since they solely ran on the fact they were pro-abortion!” and registered Republican just in time for the recall of the governor. OK…here’s the punch-line: the main contender running to replace the recalled pro-abortion Democrat governor was the now (in)famous “(name removed by moderator)”…who despite being a staunch Republican and nominal Catholic was also running as a pro-abortion candidate. WAIT…WHAT? How could this be??? The Republican platform is clearly pro-life…how could a Republican run as a pro-abortionist? One word: politics. They do and say what they need to in order to win.

So, to date, I have never once voted nor supported a pro-abortion candidate for president or governor. I can’t…I won’t. I abstain from supporting such candidates, even when they are the supposed lesser of 2 evils. Why? Because it sets a precedent; it pushes the needle in a direction such as to say, “well…we know abortion is wrong, but if we want to get elected, we have to publicly support it…and the sheeple have shown they’ll go along with it now anyway, so no harm no foul…”

Sorry for this long post. But if you have read this far, my advice to you is to vote your conscience knowing that there really is no “lesser of 2 evils”…evil is evil. Make your voice and your opinion known. Let the candidate you support for YOUR reasons know why you don’t support him/her for OTHER reasons. At the end of the day, if you don’t let your politicians know how you think, they’ll do the thinking for you.

God bless you, and know you are not alone here.

Cool…

Because the Declaration of Independence is a creed of the United States of America, as well.

I’m allowed to vote next election, and I am more a democrat than a republican, can I vote for a democrat given the abortion stance?
The simple and basic answer to your question is “yes” you can, and there are a goodly number of Pro-Life Dems. Also, abortion isn’t the only issue us Catholics should be concerned about as there are so many other issues dealing with morality.

The unfortunate reality is that some Catholic-oriented Pubs use abortion as a “wedge issue” as if it were the only thing that matters, even though the Church has long taught that we shouldn’t be one-issue voters. I’m 74 years of age, and I have voted in every presidential and stare election, and I have yet to find a single candidate over all those years that I 100% agree with.

BTW, the above is my opinion, and I will not debate this, so this is a one-and-out for me.

, even though the Church has long taught that we shouldn’t be one-issue voters.
you keep saying it is one issue

a vote for a democrat supports more than just abortion, don’t limit it.

by voting for a Democrat, you support the entire LGBT agenda, euthanasia, embryonic
stem cell research, transgenderism, identity politics, the destruction of the family, contraception, socialism, breaking the seal of the confession, federal funds to pay for abortions, forced abortions in catholic hospitals, forcing the church to perform same-sex marriages, the selection of liberal judges who will uphold these policies, etc

which of these policies agree with church teaching?

“One does not need to have any religious belief to know that it is gravely wrong to take the life of another human being,” wrote Naumann of the state senator’s remarks. “On the other hand, coercing Kansas to be complicit in abortion through payment of their taxes is a religious liberty issue.”
Earlier in the column he revealed other information about his meeting with Francis, saying the Pope asks two questions to abortion supporters:

“Is it ever right to kill a child to solve a problem?” and “Is it ever right to hire someone to kill a child to solve a problem?”
