That has just reach the age of 49 be a prophet from God.
And would happen that will make this person a prophet

If someone claims to be a prophet, he usually isn’t.
Pretty much. Usually they were a prophet because God chose them.

The role that the OT prophets served has been fulfilled in Jesus Christ, who is now our true Mediator between us and God. The Patristic understanding of “prophet” in the NT is more of a teacher and educator (which was one of the roles the OT prophets certainly served).

Mr. Wolf,

I know that Christ fulfilled the Law and the Prophets.

Recently, I was flipping through TV channels (never anything to watch.) I came across a Christian station and found Hal Lindsey talking about world events and prophecy.

I was rather startled that Lindsey still had an audience, after the failure of his predictions in his book, “The Late Great Planet Earth.” I remember that book from years ago. I think he predicted the Tribulation and/or the Rapture would occur no later than 1988. I’m not sure. It’s been a long time. The point is, why are people still listening to him, after his failed prophecies?

Do you believe prophets will appear again, who will receive prophecies from God to predict future events regarding the “end of days” (I acknowledge varying interpretations of the “end of days”)? Or do we rely upon the prophecies already contained in Holy Scripture? IOW, if Christ fulfilled the Law and the Prophets, will there be more Prophets? Christ did speak of people prophesying in the last days.

Anna

The gift of prophecy refers to private revelation. St. John the Baptist was the last of the public prophets.

Besides, Christ told us no one knows the time or the hour. If anyone claims to know a date, they aren’t a real prophet.

All those self-proclaimed prophets talk about the end times. They rarely prophecy about anything else, except for the occasional reminder that everyone who disagrees with them is damned.

I think you mean St John the Evangelist, the last of the apostles, who were the last public prophets.

A prophet is a interperter of the times and of people’s hearts; one who issues and oracle of “the word of the Lord.” One who speaks for God. It can be possible.

Because of the age of the person,he was 49
If your question is are people “born” with prophecy or can they receive the gift at any point, I think there isn’t a definite answer. I’m pretty sure Jonah was called later in life (but the problem is we don’t get their entire life story). Also, Not many people consider David as a prophet but Jesus points to fulfilling the scripture and David was one of the authors (as I recall).

Anyhoo, I don’t think age is a limitation or requirement.

Lets see if this will wrok,How many Christian do you think at the age on 49 are prophets,

There have been prophets throughout the Church’s history.

Just look at the saints throughout the ages who have received private revelation.

(They are not on the same level as public revelation, but they are prophets!)

The last prophet was Jesus Christ…He is Prophet, King and Messiah…this very weekend at Mass we cover this topic.

We we who are incorporated into the Body of Jesus Christ extend His ministry to the world…thus we are prophets proclaiming Jesus is the face of God the Father, He is King of the Universe, and the Messiah…

Read the Catechism.

He wasn’t a prophet in the traditional sense, St. John the Baptist was.
702 From the beginning until "the fullness of time,"60 the joint mission of the Father’s Word and Spirit remains hidden, but it is at work. God’s Spirit prepares for the time of the Messiah. Neither is fully revealed but both are already promised, to be watched for and welcomed at their manifestation. So, for this reason, when the Church reads the Old Testament, she searches there for what the Spirit, “who has spoken through the prophets,” wants to tell us about Christ.61
By “prophets” the faith of the Church here understands all whom the Holy Spirit inspired in living proclamation and the composition of the sacred books, both of the Old and the New Testaments. Jewish tradition distinguishes first the Law (the five first books or Pentateuch), then the Prophets (our historical and prophetic books) and finally the Writings (especially the wisdom literature, in particular the Psalms).62

God chooses Prophets as He seems fit. Since God stated that the gifts of visions and prophecy would be poured out at the End of Days its clear the authority of prophecy and the legacy of prophets is far from dead. Rather they will be called when the faith needs them and revelations granted to bolster the faith through them.

So the age and gender shouldn’t matter at all.

A true prophet comes from the fullness of meaning of Sacred Scripture…and must not contradict even one word…within the Sacred Tradition of the Church.

tell them to just say NO to drugs (or go see a shrink before they endanger others)

A prophet, sage, or messiah only comes from the human imagination.
