Does not the word “they” in Luke 8:6, who went through the villages, healing everywhere, mean the twelve apostles and wasn’t Judas Iscariot one of the twelve apostles?And he called to him his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal every disease and every infirmity. 2 The names of the twelve apostles are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother; 3 Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; 4 Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, who betrayed him. How would you even know that it’s the Word of God without the Church saying that it was though? Where in the Bible does it establish itself as the only source of the Word of God? Where in the Bible does it say that the Bible is the sole and final authority? You know what it does say? From 1 Timothy 3:15:The Bible is the truly Word of God, and It is above all, I repeat above all writings.
The Catholic Church is the pillar and ground of truth. The Catholic Church is God’s Church, and all of its authority is from God alone.“3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.”
Which makes your apparent insistence on sola scriptura quite odd.…I have been a Catholic all my life and continue to be.
As scripture is published by the church and entirely dependent upon the authority of the church (and nothing you said contradicts this*), there is no inconsistency between that authority and following the scripture published under that authority.@dochawk…your statement truly raised my eyebrows. I think those that are not following Scriptures are in grave error.
