Well, yes, if you have everything you need to strike the balance then of course it will be easy. But the point is many people do not have all these things, and often it is not their fault but rather a residual effect of the way they were raised. Everyone has their own personal struggle, some people have a hard time with chastity, some with pride, some with gossip, rash judgement and calumny, and some people have a hard time determining which actions need to be avoided for the sake of avoiding scandal. What good do you expect to come out of belittling other people’s struggles simply because they are not difficult for you?It’s really not hard to strike a balance, I’ve done it for 77 years. Society today just tries to wipe out that balance and convince us that “anything goes.” Going to extremes either way isn’t helping. Strong faith, good judgement( gift of the Holy Spirit), common sense and a well formed conscience according to the guidelines of the Catholic Church, are needed. God Bless, Memaw
