So if Pope Francis has not made a public comment about one of those issues, as Pope, and not prior, then all of the teachings of the magisterium that would help one to properly form their conscience don’t count? Does every new Pope need to restate the entire body of truth in order for it to be considered valid in your mind? Help me understand where you are coming from on this.I didn’t think Pope Francis had issued anything like this. Thank you for verifying.
How sad that someone would be more offended by a poster than a politician who would filibuster for the right to unlimited abortion. If this is one of Abbott’s posters, I will agree with anyone who says it’s in poor taste.
But poor taste is hardly a counter to promotion of killing the unborn. Voting for a pro-abortion candidate makes a person just as complicit as the person who hands the knife to the “doctor” who performs it.
Agree!I think Archbishop Chaput has a Red Hat in his future
Hope he does.I think Archbishop Chaput has a Red Hat in his future
One really needs to realize that the Tea Party is not a single entity and not all values are shared by all. Around here, Tea Partiers are against higher taxes and increased government regulation, but aren’t unitary in much of anything else. How quickly we forget. About a century and a half ago we had the “Know Nothing” nativeists who were opposed to immigration and frankly treated the Irish and Eastern Europeans like dirt. Specially Irish.
But now most Irish vote for the Republi party over the only issue that comes even close to mattering…abortion.
Today the Republi party is much like the “Know Nothings” on the issue of immigration. Just ship 'um out, back to the horrible conditions these children came from.
The county I live in is not Republi, they are to a man Tea Party.
Even though they make noise about abortion, the only thing that matters is the ‘ahl bidness’, oil business. And I think maybe that is the only thing that really matters in America, Texas for sure.
Fracking is having a holiday here. And the environment is the enemy. Our county buries most of the nuclear trash from the nation right in the county.
Graft (although it can be done by both parties) is rife here. About a year ago their was a truck bypass (loop) built here. It cost many millions and of course it was poorly built, and closed the next month.
I can not in good conscience vote for the Tea Party. If control is wrested form the Tea Party, then and only then will I vote Republi again.
Well have to add that to listHow quickly we forget. About a century and a half ago we had the “Know Nothing” nativeists who were opposed to immigration and frankly treated the Irish and Eastern Europeans like dirt. Specially Irish.

Not sure what this means…can you elaborate? Here is another one for your list
I don’t think I should vote for someone who feels their job is to fail at governing.
I don’t think I said that. Where did I say that?Well have to add that to list
"I dont like the Tea Petty, therefore its ok for me to vote for a viruntely pro abortion canfidate
I will be shocked if he’s not named this winter.I think Archbishop Chaput has a Red Hat in his future
Sure. People who do not believe in government should a) not run and b) if they run, should not be voted for. No matter what party they are in.Not sure what this means…can you elaborate?
Please give us a list of names of persons in elected office “who do not believe in government”.Sure. People who do not believe in government should a) not run and b) if they run, should not be voted for. No matter what party they are in.
I am always amazed that people are surprised that electing anti-government types results in a non-working government.
The House of Representatives. Sorry I’m not Sally bbut felt I had to say that. Please give us a list of names of persons in elected office “who do not believe in government”.
Sounds like a lot of left-wing propaganda.I’m now having to choose between Abbott (R) and Wendy Davis (D) for gov of Texas. Abbott has had a pathological hatred for the EPA for many years – his platform it to “rein in the EPA.” And Texas in general thumbs its nose at the EPA and allows its residents to drink unsafe water with high alpha radiation levels (telling them the water is safe) and fracking fluids, and breathe unsafe air, and allows contamination to invade people’s property and just stay there forever, without any thought to clean it up. The testing the TCEQ (= EPA at the state level) does is biased against finding any problems – they “randomly” sample areas where they are sure not to find anything and say “no problem.” Since the gov appoints the TCEQ administrator, the gov position is extremely important.
Bec of our Republican-run state people are dying, getting leukemia, etc.
It could, but then energy prices would soar and power outages may be more common.Texas has so much wind and sun, it could probably go on 90% alt energy, if it put its mind to it.
Many in Germany are looking to get out of the alternative energy business. Much of its public is up in arms over the high energy prices. If Germany with much less sun and wind can go 75% alt energy, we certainly could go above that.
That’s correct. Davis knows that the energy business is successful in Texas. Now Wendy Davis is infamous for striving to prevent anti-abortion laws in Texas, and she doesn’t have much to say about environmental issues (I think she’s afraid of the anti-environmental Texans and losing their votes). Her platform is pro-education – but who isn’t pro-education.
:ehh:I’ll probably be voting against Abbott, who would abort the world, and for “abortion Barbie” (one of the campaign ads against Davis). I would hope that Davis’s carrot approaches would more significantly reduce abortion than anything Abbott might do, and that she would appoint **pro-environment (that is pro-life) **people who would strive to reduce environmental harms and save lives.
