Can I ask a couple of stupid questions?

I have a 1959 St. Joseph’s Missal I bought several years ago at a used bookstore for 50 cents (best 50 cents I ever spent!) - woudl this be close enough to the 1962 missal that I could use it at a TLM?

Thanks,
Jon

Yes, as one who grew up with the TLM, I have used missals from as early as the 40’s. They are basically the same as the 1962 version. You will be able to follow the mass just fine with them.

Some sources I’ve found for TLM missals are:
Mother of Our Savior moscompany.com
Angelus Press angeluspress.org/index.php

Note, however, that I wouldn’t recommend all the literature sold on these websites.

I followed Saint_Gemma’s and St Maria’s posted links for ordering the 1962 Daily Missal (thank you both for that!) and my question is, does it matter which publisher’s Missal you get? Are all 1962 Daily Missals the same, containing the complete readings and prayers in Latin and English, or is there such a thing as an “abridged” or shorter Missal? I think I would want to buy the complete one and not a “1/2 missal”, if there is such a thing. I’m not going to order it right now since I first have to see if there will even be a traditional mass offered in my area to begin with. But if I do find a church, I will eventually want to get a 1962 Missal. Thanks for any info about this.
Welcome to CAF, Isle of Avalon! Here is the best page I know for comparing traditional missals: Southwell Books. They’re in the UK, but the missals are available from various places.

I haven’t seen one in years (although I have my own) but I believe you are referring to the “little missals” that one received when one made one’s first Communion years ago. The “little missals” contained all the Sunday readings but an abridged Propers of the Saints. I believe any 1962 missal you get today would be the full version. A “little missal” would still enable you to follow any Sunday TLM.
Thank you, brotherhrolf, for your answer. Actually, I posed my original question about abridged missals out of ignorance. I didn’t know anything about the traditional mass and the types of 1962 missals that were used in the past, and for some reason I thought that there was a shorter or “abridged” daily (not just Sunday) missal that had existed. Your mention of a First Communion little missal is the first time I ever heard of it. My First Communion was in back in 1966, I guess they stopped giving out little missals by that time. But I’ve since been learning of all the various traditional mass missals out there and in the days after posting my question, I’ve been checking out numerous online Catholic sellers and eBay. For me, it’s boiling down to whether I want to buy a daily missal from Baronius or Angelus Press or maybe just get a Sunday booklet missal and hold off getting the more expensive full missal for now. A few days ago I received a catalog from Roman Catholic Books and they have a Latin-English 1962 Sunday Ordinary Missal for $8.95. It looks like a pretty good one and the price seems to be right. I might just order this one for the time being. I anticipate attending my first Latin masses on Sunday anyway.

Thank you for your welcome, Cranch, and thanks for the valuable link. It’s a very good guide for comparing what’s available in print. Decisions, decisions… 🙂

For those who wish to see a TLM for learning purposes or because none are currently near, the nice folks here at sacramentals.com have TLM videos offered at St. Patrick’s Church in Omaha by FSSP priests. They have both Low Masses and High Masses in DVD and VHS formats.
They also have several types of new Latin missals, including the 1962, at fairly reasonable prices. As someone else pointed out, eBay also has various new and used missals, including the 1962 forsale, but the prices there are going up quickly.

We have the Easter High Mass and several of the Low Masses. They are done very professionally.
