My parish has a Tuesday night mass at 6:45. Immaculate Conception falls on a Wednesday this year. Will I satisfy obligation by attending the Tuesday night Mass?

I note that the Canon states “assists” and not “attends”. I believe it must be considered a vigil mass of the Immaculate Conception, and not a regularly scheduled evening mass. Could be wrong though. Simplest would be to check the parish bulletin or call and ask.Yes
Can. 1248 §1. A person who assists at a Mass celebrated anywhere in a Catholic rite either on the feast day itself or in the evening of the preceding day satisfies the obligation of participating in the Mass.
“Assists” means “attends.” Also, it says “a Mass.” Any Mass is satisfactory. That includes weddings, funerals, and anything else.I note that the Canon states “assists” and not “attends”. I believe that if it is on the evening previous (after 4 pm) it must be an anticipated Mass for the Immaculate Conception; certainly any time after first Vespers it would have to be.I note that the Canon states “assists” and not “attends”. Thank you. I have neither Canon Law nor Canon Law dictionary, so I usually just ask or call.“Assists” means “attends.” Also, it says “a Mass.” Any Mass is satisfactory. That includes weddings, funerals, and anything else.
That is what I understand. A quick call would probably answer the OP’s question.I believe that if it is on the evening previous (after 4 pm) it must be an anticipated Mass for the Immaculate Conception; certainly any time after first Vespers it would have to be.
It is for the purpose of fulfilling an obligation. So if no obligation exists, then you don’t fulfill anything. I don’t know if some parishes might celebrate a Vigil Mass as if there is an Obligation for those who would want to go to Mass as if there is an obligation.Does Canon 1248 §1 apply to all feast days or just those of precept? From my point of view, regarding the Immaculate Conception of the BVM, the question is academic. The Immaculate Conception has had its precept removed in England & Wales so it’s not a holy day obligation here.
