Can I baptize a baby?

What good would it do to baptize this infant? If the child will be raised by atheists the baptism will mean nothing if the child does not believe. If the child grows up and becomes a believer they can be baptized then.

The theory being that he’d get the graces of baptism. Also the belief that baptism saves by removing original sin.

To the OP, why don’t you both pray for this child’s parents, as well as talk to them. Maybe voice your worries. Maybe they’d at least give a neutral environment instead of saying religion is an outdated practice…it’s worth a shot at least.
