Can I be forgiven after this?

Feeling embarrassed when confessing it is also a good lesson in humility. Other posts above contain good advice. At my parish my priest/spiritual director knows who I am, knows my voice, and even though our confessionals have curtains behind the screen - he stills knows me 😃, so he once told me to ā€œjust blurt it outā€. The sin that was concerning me at that time wasn’t one of impurity, but being a sacristan there - it was still really awkward. But I decided to conquer pride and confess to him. The seal of confession is absolute and it hasn’t changed at all how he relates to me in anyway at all.

So just go - confess it and receive Gods’ forgiveness and with your firm resolution of amendment, exit the confessional in gratitude to God, and joy at being able to ā€œstart againā€.

Personally, I find it helpful to know that when we are in the confessional convicting ourselves of sin before the priest that because we are telling the truth (even the truth that we did something horrible and shameful) that we at once stand as accusers of ourselves (our own accuser) but because we are speaking the truth we also stand on the side of Christ (and Christ stands with us). This can sometimes help me find the strength or courage to go to confession - the hope of standing again on the side of Christ, even if it means convicting myself.

I know that helped me and maybe it might help you also.

God bless.

I will try to confess on sunday.
My parents will be there.

The other time, it was hard to confess, the priest was not even in the cabinet and they had to call him to meet me in the cabinet.

And praying to the Blessed Mother really does help a lot. I have had sins that I was struggling with that I never committed on a day that I prayed to her. After I got a daily devotion to her, it was still difficult, but I always won. No exceptions.

A good pastor told me ā€œas long as you are worried about committing the unpardonable sin, you have not committed itā€.

As long as you are alive, you have your free will to turn from sin and repent. Any sin. All it takes is one breath, one moment to repent.

Bless me Father for I have sinned.

I have sinned against the 6th commandment many (few, some, one) time(s) since my last confession.

If the priest wants more details, ā€œI am single/married and I masturbatedā€.

That is it. Believe everyone here, this is the most common sin that priests hear. People do not even confess lying (as many people do not believe it is a sin) as often as they confess masturbation, lust, etc.

how do I confess it to the priest without being embarrased?
From a person whom have confessed it a few times - itĀ“ll be okay. Just say it, donĀ“t go into detail just say ā€œAnd I am guilty of the sin of masturbation x timesā€.

The fact that it was embarrassing helped me quit it tho.

It“s going to be just fine. Don“t worry and remember that Father is just there to help you confess to God, he is not going to be judgemental or anything.

I“ll try to make it to Confession tomorrow myself, and for once I“m not really too worried.

I understand the awkwardness but Father doesn’t judge you he is literally there to forgive you in the name of Jesus . They understand esp if you are a young person that this is excruciating.

No, this is never enough by itself.

Right, but not ā€œif the priest wants more details.ā€ This is the essential detail, not ā€œI sinned against the sixth commandmentā€ which can mean anything. Adultery is against the sixth commandment. Fornication is against the sixth commandment. Three-way sex is against the sixth commandment. Homosexual sex is against the sixth commandment. Pornography is against the sixth commandment.

One needs to state the species of the sin, not generalities. ā€œI masturbated X timesā€ is the way to say it. Period. Full stop. No more, no less, no additional details.

I dont know if I can ask Jesus for forgiveness, because I knew it was wrong in the moment I was doing it.
Also, I am a woman and too embarrased to confess it to a priest.
I don’t want to minimize the sin, but you need to understand that this is an INCREDIBLY common sin. Priests hear the word ā€œmasturbationā€ in confession constantly. A priest friend told me it’s literally the most common thing he hears in the booth. The priest is not going to gasp in shock or think you’re some kind of freak. Basically everyone has to confess this sin at some point.

You seem to think you’ve committed some horrible, unimaginably deviant sin instead of the most common, run of the mill sin there is. I’m not saying you don’t need to go to confession, but you do need to be aware that you’re not saying anything that the priest hasn’t heard a billion times already.

Hi people

I am asking this question because I am a bit scared I cant be forgiven anymore.

There is a Bible verse that says:

ā€œ26 For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins, 27 but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and fiery indignation which will devour the adversaries.ā€

I sinned after I received the knowleadge of the truth.

I masturbated and while I was doing it, I knew it was a sin (so I did it willfully), but I could not stop. It was as if I could not control myself.
After that I regretted it so much.

I dont know if I can ask Jesus for forgiveness, because I knew it was wrong in the moment I was doing it.
Also, I am a woman and too embarrased to confess it to a priest.
If one dies in a mortal sin, then that is a forever consequence.

On this side of eternity, all sin can be forgiven. Go to confession. Don’t be afraid

Also, to any young person who is freaking out at the idea of confessing masturbation to a priest, remember that the priest was once a young man who almost certainly had to confess this sin occasionally himself.
