I am married to a catholic. We have been married almost 20 years and I decided to convert. We are an older couple.

So my spouse is in the process of trying to get last marriage (to a Catholic) before me annulled.

I am completing my catechism classes end of the month.

I have a previous marriage to someone. When I married that first time, I was not baptized and that spouse was also not baptized at that time.

About 10 years after that divorce from that first marriage I was baptized in a protestant church but have no record of it.

My spouse and I are living as brother and sister now. My spouse takes communion each week so that should be obvious to the priest. I don’t of course because I am not confirmed.

So now that my classes are near the end, is there anything in the way of my being confirmed - Even if I have to be conditionally baptized because I have no record of 1st baptism?

Thanks in advance

Gabby

We cannot answer this question. It is up to your pastor how he handles the situation of bringing you into full communion. Please make an appointment to talk to him.

There are rules that must apply, no?

I baptized myself in the holy spirit when I left my occult life but its not valid to our mother church so I was baptized through RCIA I believe if you were baptized in the trinitarian formula of father son holy ghost then its valid you just need communion prep and confirmation or the annointing of the holy spirit Im sure if you talk to your DRE they can give you more info

Baptized.

Baptized.
Actually I think she means that she needs to be received into the Catholic Church first. Baptized Catholics can receive Holy Communion, but validly baptized non-Catholics who have not been received into the Church by a formal rite are not ordinarily eligible for Holy Communion.

Confirmation usually happens at the same Mass after the Candidate is received into the Church, and then s/he receives Holy Communion after that.

I think that you should pose this question to whoever is delivering your catechism classes. They’re in a far better position than anyone here to answer your questions.
